When is she getting her Damehood - a career now going over 80 years! She may have been offered it and turned it down.

Now booking until 10th July 2022. Are we likely to get a filmed version? I thought this revival was wonderful (although less grand than the original).

I saw this last night for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Cast were on great form, I thought Zizi Strallen and Charlie Stemp worked so well together. I know there have been mentions of the how this production doesn’t compare to the original, but I loved the set, I thought it looked great. We didn’t have Petula Clark last night but I can’t seem to find out who we had instead.
It was a little annoying that some member did the audience a few rows behind couldn’t help but singing along to some of the most well known numbers but I managed to zone them out.
I feel like all my reviews are very positive at the moment but I think I’m just enjoying being swept away with the music and the stories after so long if not being able to see live theatre.

Did the understudy sing in the same (ultra low) key as Petula?

The understudy was Alison Connell when I went. I believe she did sing in the same key, but sounded like she struggled a little with the lowest notes.

Seven shows a week--they are bringing back Thursday's mattinee and dropping Monday's show. Hope it extends till autumn--groups can still book until 1st October.

Had we never seen the original production with the huge house, we would have all been very satisfied with this set (after all, it works so well). Still--and please forgive me if I should not mention this on this board--someone has just uploaded a video from a performance some time in mid 2006 (with Rebecca Lock and Gavin Creel as Mary and Bert) and I couldn't help feeling nostalgic about that version!

Any chance of a Damehood should be over after her performance in this. Just abysmal. Well obviously the successful theatre producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh does not agree with you on her performance.

I saw this pre-covid, really enjoyed it. Zizi was perfection.

People tend to be knighted or made a Dame based on their lifetimes work or contribution to society. In this respect an artist with Ms Clarks international career is more than deserving of such an honour.

Only 23 tickets available for tonight but the site still says "good availability". When is it supposed to say "limited availability"?

Only 23 tickets available for tonight but the site still says "good availability". When is it supposed to say "limited availability"? This is good news! Based on the number of offers I’ve been emailed in recent weeks I was worried the show had been struggling to get bums on seats. I guess with this week being half term in some areas that’ll help give it a boost. I think I saw the cast are performing on Saturday Night Takeaway next weekend too which no doubt will also help sales. I saw the show in November ‘19 when this revival first opened and I loved it. I thought Zizi and Charlie were fantastic together and Petula Clark was wonderful too, so it’s one that feels special to me and I want to succeed after all the upheaval of the last two years.

Saw this on Saturday, and really enjoyed it again. The theatre was about 90-95% full from what I could see. Charlie Stemp was brilliant, a true triple threat. Zizi was mostly fantastic, but the whole first verse of Feed The Birds was not in sync with the orchestra which was a bit awkward. There were a few other slight timing issues with the understudies who were on.
Not quite as polished as usual, but I still had a great time.

The matinee on Saturday has been moved half an hour earlier to 2:00pm? I only assume this is so the cast can get to Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway which they’re performing on.

There are no Grand Circle tickets for midweek shows in March (whereas they are available for weekend shows). Maybe they are saving money on staff?

What are the logistics for them performing on Ant & Dec on Saturday considering both shows are still going ahead and Ant & Dec is live? A pre-rec for their performance in between matinee and evening show?

A pre-rec for their performance in between matinee and evening show? I wondered exactly this too! I’ve always assumed Ant & Dec’s show is shown live, yet I would presume the cast performance on the show will be led by Zizi and Charlie. Can only think it’ll have to be pre-recorded and the matinee has been brought forward to give them a little more time in which to do it.

If it’s The End of the Show Show then it’s most likely prerecorded.

End of the show show is sometimes pre recorded on the Friday. In this case I’ve heard it’s just Charlie and Zizi backed by previous touring cast and national cast members rather than the current west end ensemble. This makes sense as a member of the current beauty and the beast tour who used to be in Mary Poppins posted that he was looking forward to ‘step in time’ for this. Beauty has a week off this week.

When do we reckon Oliver will take over the theater? Do we think Mary Poppins will last through the Autumn?

When do we reckon Oliver will take over the theater? Do we think Mary Poppins will last through the Autumn? I think it will be one of two ways. Either Poppins runs through September with Oliver! moving in time for November previews/Xmas opening, or Poppins runs through early Jan, with Oliver! coming in the Spring. I'd probably lean towards Poppins finishing in September though, it seems to have struggled with sales moreso than a lot of shows.
