it hasn't exactly set the box office alive like everyone expected. Which sounds weird to say when a film grosses over $300 million but everyone expected it to do alot more. WOAH Slow your roll there buddy, the films only been out a month and has nowhere near finished its theatrical run. I happen to know Disney are over the moon with both the final product, and its performance and reception.Very early plans are already a foot for a sequel to the sequel, with talks already beginning with Rob Marshall and Emily Blunt.She recently confirmed in a surprisingly loose lipped interview on the Mark Kermode/Simon Mayo film programme, that after making the before hand unconfirmed A quiet place sequel, she would be looking to return to Poppins. I also disagree with your statement that EVERYONE expected it to do a lot more. It was never going to do Superhero billion dollar club numbers, as its international appeal is limited, and its not even getting a release it China, which is the main international moviegoing market nowadays, so 300 million in a month is stunning. This has to instead be viewed alongside other Movie musicals, and it currently stands as the third highest grossing December musical, but it only has to gross ten million more domestically (which it will easily do) to overtake the current number one,The greatest showman. Plus it is doing extraordinarily well in the places Disney expected it to, especially in the UK where it has already pulled in over fifty million quid, and is still playing to packed cinemas. The only anomaly to movie musicals was Disneys own Beauty and the beast 2017,which did join the billion dollar club. Also the film is a beautifully and lovingly done piece of filmmaking which will stand the test of time and be loved for years to come, so a stage version will most definitely happen someday.I do agree this probably won't be rushed out by Disney theatrical, but like the film itself, it shouldn't be. xx |

£175 for “premium” seats. It better have real pigeons and a return of the original house set for that price. I just don’t get the problem with 175 pound seats if you are never the demographic for who they are for. Many people in London and many tourists have lots of money and these prices are still very cheap for them in the big scheme of things. |

Well, I absolutely loved the film and am very excited for this musical to return.
Well overdue.
What big shows are there for kids to see in London? Lion King? Matilda? Aladdin? School of Rock?
Those expensive tickets will fly out.

I think I must be in the minority but I much preferred the tour set. That house made such a racket coming in and out all the time like Norma’s house in the original Sunset. At least that had the gorgeous underscoring to accompany it!

According to the 4 page advert in tonight's Evening Standard it says "the new production of the show will be seen for the first time in Lonon following record breaking runs in Australia, North America, The UK and Ireland etc etc" So I read that as the touring production. |

The original production was binned and will never be revived. I haven’t seen this version, but most people seem to say it’s better. I hated that lumbering house in the originanproduction. I just hope they give the touring set a lick of paint. They are charging a lot of money for this show. |

I was driving over Wandsworth Bridge earlier tonight and there was a huge advertisement on the roundabout for Mary Poppins! That must be some of the most expensive advertising space around! They’re certainly going all out on the promo already!

I booked for this this morning. My first ever first preview! Upper circle, one of the cheaper seats on the side. Good enough view according to Seatplan.
At first I wasn't too excited about the show, but I mean, Charlie Stemp! Also, watching the new movie brought back some nostalgia.

I wonder if set wise will be like when Miss Saigon came to the Prince Edward - that was basically the touring set from the 2nd UK tour BUT it was made a bit more extensive/detailed for the West End (and of course they added the physical helicopter instead of just the projection). Though it's clear this is the touring Poppins would be nice if design wise there were some new elements. |

I remember last time this came through my local theatre, they hoisted Zizi up through one of the holes in the (fake) ceiling at the theatre, installed a landing platform, then made her walk all the way down the stairs back down to stage level.
Just to give folk who were sat in the Upper Circle a taste of the magic, as they usually miss out.
