Anyone know why tickets aren’t available for the show in the grand circle for quite a few of the September and October performances?

Saw this last night as a last minute replacement for Anything Goes.
Really enjoyed it. First time seeing Charlie Stemp as Bert (went pre-Covid but he was off),and he was absolutely brilliant, such a delight to watch. Sat next to a lovely young couple who'd only been dating for a short time, the woman wasn't sure about musicals beforehand, but had a fantastic night.
We got there just after 7pm and the queue outside the theatre was massive. I overheard one of the security staff telling people just to get their tickets ready, and they would be spot checking the Covid certificates. When we got to the door they just scanned the tickets. The queue did move very quickly. There were a lot of people wearing masks in the foyer and bar area but pretty much everyone removed them when seated in the theatre.

Is it like the touring Australian production set. Also I am shocked that Matt Lee did not become Bert on West End. As he did it on tour He really was amazing

What’s the COVID certificate they’re checking? I’m off to the theatre this week for the first time since before the pandemic and this is the first I’ve heard about this regarding theatre entry.

Many theatres are now requiring either proof of double vaccination or a negative lateral flow test as a condition of entry. You can find the DMT (who run the Prince Edward) rules here: help.delfontmackintosh.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/4403730047762-Proof-of-Vaccination-or-Negative-Test

The NHS provides a covid vaccination certificate showing vaccination status or recent test results in a mobile phone form or for vaccinations on a paper form with security features. Some places are demanding one or the other. Google nhs covid certificate ? Makes sense as that reduces the chances of sitting next to a covid carrier for 3 hours , but doesn't remove it, and the kids watching Mary Poppins won't be vaccinated or tested. This comes back in later for large public ventures, - not clear about whether it will for theatres - which is odd as its not compulsory for bigger events now as they wanted to give everyone the chance to get vaccinated.
Bottom line is the theatre may have asked for it, may or not be enforcing it and it may all change later in the year.

Can Liz Robertson still sing? No shade but the last time I heard her sing was on the 1998 Hey Mr Producer DVD and she is awful on that. Miss Andrew is a fairly demanding sing - is she hitting all the notes?

I was at the opening night on 7th August and I couldn't hear a bum note. she got a big cheer at the curtain call too.

I was rather confused by what was going on with Claire Moore's vocals last year in the role. Was she directed to sing it like that? Given her background I thought she would have been able to achieve the vocal acrobatics of Rosie Ashe (who hasn't been bettered in that role yet, IMHO).

Absolutely agree - we know Claire can sing it exactly as Rosie did, and yet there was some weird thing going on when she played the part.
And yup - we haven't had anyone nearly as good as Rosie Ashe!!

Rosie Ashe was terrifying, no one has committed to that part the way she did, 100%

I wonder why they don't sell merchandise on the show website... My guess is they want people to see the show.

I wonder why they don't sell merchandise on the show website... Would love it if they did - such an amazing experience. Hope it tours again once it’s left London.

It’s tradition by Disney Theatrical when schools go back they take the top level off sale they have been doing the same at The Lion King for years .Shame as they could actually give something back and do school deals or incentives

They had a "Practically Perfect in Every Way" apron when I saw the tour in 2016 ( ) and I still regret a little bit that I didn't buy one. My Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious bag is still going strong though!

Saw this last week. I love this show. It means the absolute world to me.
However, Zizi’s voice is just so utterly ghastly. It genuinely makes me feel so uncomfortable.
There is no denying her acting, dancing and commitment to her role, but her tone makes me … I don’t know.
I just felt so uncomfortable any time she started to sing.
She ruined the show for me.
Not a patch on her sister Scarlett.
And Charlie Stemp …. What exactly is the big deal? He exaggerates every single word he sings. Sounds as though he has marbles in his mouth!
Probably the worst Mary Poppins cast I have ever seen, and that makes me sad.

Add me to the feeling the same club, but I didn't really like Scarlett's Mary either. I still have vague memories of Laura Michelle Kelly who was wonderful and I remember liking Lisa O'Hare.
