Kathryn Evans was indeed sensational. A great pity she’s no longer in the business.

July tickets moved to November, despite the same seats available on the same night every week from opening. Can’t understand why they’ve put it back so far. Have requested September instead.

A lot of shows have just pushed everyone back, even if they are open on the date you chose. Swings and roundabouts with any way of doing it, I prefer this method to cancel and scramble to rebook!

Just don’t understand how November is the “nearest appropriate performance”, when the same seats are available on the same night of the week many times before that. They had only taken bookings until October, so had 100% availability for performances after this date. It was therefore logistically much easier to move all tickets for the cancelled performances in bulk to these dates, and then give people the opportunity to change their tickets individually if they wanted.

I have booked MP for Sat 7th August, which as I understand it will be the first night. Hope this doesn't get moved. I want my weekend sorted as soon as possible!

Booked first night but moved to late November. I requested a move to a date in August which has our seats free, but customer service haven’t responded in a week and now the seats are gone!

They've just put a casting call out for boys to play Michael. Does that seem normal, or a bit last minute?

They are auditioning 150 children today, that seems an awful lot ?!

They are auditioning 150 children today, that seems an awful lot ?! I mean, they'll likely be group/workshop style auditions and a few stand-outs pulled from each group for single auditions. West End musical auditions are generally pretty big though. Thousands of submissions, hundreds of auditionees.

Having a name as big as Petula attached to this will I am sure bring in more customers, maybe of a certain age I admit. When I saw it last February I thought she was great. It was so lovely to see her in the West End again after such an illustrious and long career.

Did you miss the bits where she couldn’t sing or act at all- as in her whole performance...? No I didn't .You may disagree with my view but for someone with such a long and varied career as Petula I find what you said quite rude. I admit I only saw it once but on the occasion I did she performed the role really well. Admittedly a small role but if you watched her closely as I did she interacted with the cast and children really well and sung the song well too. I know opinions differ but I think Petula deserves to be treated with a bit more respect than you have given her. A brief reminder of just some of her theatre.(These are not my owrds that follow) SOUND OF MUSIC August 18, 1981- September 18, 1982, Apollo Victoria Theatre, West End, London Revival Among the audience on opening night, August 18, 1981, sat [the real] Baroness Maria Von Trapp. After the performance she told Ross Taylor, "If I never see The Sound Of Music again, this is the way I want to remember it -- and I want to remember Petula's performance as the greatest performance of Maria." The Sound of Music boasts the record for the highest attendance figure for a single week (October 26-31, 1981) of any British musical production in history. The 2600-seat theatre played to 101 percent of seating capacity. [The Guinness Book of Theatre] BLOOD BROTHERS "Petula's extraordinary successful recording career has been well documented - when she took over in the Broadway production of Blood Brothers she reminded us all of what an outstanding actress she has always been. She will hate me for saying this, but she is also the most humble, the most adorable, and the most loving leading lady I have ever worked with. And I thank her for that amongst many things." - Bill Kenwright, 1995 SUNSET BOULEVARD November 17, 1998--April 9, 2000, US Tour January 9, 1996--April 5, 1997, Adelphi Theatre, West End, London, UK September 2, 1995--October 14, 1995, Adelphi Theatre, West End, London, UK (Six-week run, subbing for Elaine Paige) Without a rest from her grueling Blood Brothers tour in the USA, Petula was asked to play Norma Desmond in Andrew Loyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard in London's West End. Petula thought she wouldn't be right for the part, but fortunately Trevor Nunn was able to convince her that she'd be "marvellous." Trevor honored Petula at a "This Is Your Life" taping (Petula's third) by stating unequivocally, "Petula is the real thing!" Petula performed in Sunset for what everyone believed would be the final time before a packed house in London's West End on April 5, 1997. The following year, Petula (missing "Norma") embarked on an 18 month U.S. tour and became the longest running Norma to date. MARY POPPINS After a 22 year absence from the West End, Petula is now starring in a featured role as the Bird Woman in the current revival of the classic musical, Mary Poppins. Petula sings the iconic song "Feed the Birds," and in recognition of Petula's musical abilities, the show's producers have expanded the role so that she is also featured in the "Anything Can Happen," number.

Yeah... sure. More like, OK we’ve got her, she does hardly anything, how can we get a bit more value for money from her.

I don’t care about her career. Great, but I want to pay and watch someone on stage who can sing and act. She was good as Norma Desmond but that was a long time ago. She was a distraction in this production and it’s embarrassing the way they restaged it to engineer entrance applause for her. No one clapped the night I went 🤣

Sorry guys, old member, been off a while due to the pandemic and now that things are happening again, I’ve decided to make a return.
But just wondering, I remember reading that more was added for Petula during Anything Can Happenwhat exactly was it?? As far as I can recall, the bird woman was always a part of that number, her little reprise of Feed the Birds just never made it into the previous cast recordings. And judging from what I remember from 2004 and the last tour, the bird woman currently doesn’t do anything more than she already did.

I saw her and thought she was fine. It's a nice cameo role for an older musical theatre actress. Not Olivier-nom-worthy so it's silly that THAT happened, but I mean, it's a small part and she was fine when I saw it.
That being said, sometimes older performers who were great when they were young may not be as able to perform in old age. I'm not saying that is happening here, but I think giving a list of her previous credits doesn't necessarily prove anything about her current performance.

Can we have a nod to the original "Bird Woman" - Julia Sutton? Stalwart of West End shows for years, SHE was the real deal. Petula was an embarrasment.
