What a lazy piece of programming. No doubt it’ll be a money spinner, but what with Weird Al Jankovic’s polka version,so many other spoofs of this show on You Tube and even my kid’s school doiing their own parody of it, it would have been great to see something a bit more exciting or original in this theatre for the summer. No doubt the Les Mis revolve and Annie will turn up in this somewhere too. Personally I’ve seen enough versions of Forbidden Broadway to last me a lifetime.

I've seen a few comments on price at the Menier, do we know the price for this or have an idea?

I've seen a few comments on price at the Menier, do we know the price for this or have an idea? If you go to the Menier website and find the page for the next production, you should be able to scroll down and look at their pricing. It'll probably be a similar pricing structure for 'Spamilton' so that should give you an idea. They usually have a staggered pricing structure based on the date you book and there is also a preview price too.

Also I’m not sure I want two hours of Hamilton jokes, I wasn’t enamoured by the show so do I want a fullly staged parody of it ? No!

What a lazy piece of programming. No doubt it’ll be a money spinner, They don't get a subsidy. Of course they've programmed it because they think it'll make money, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Plus it's hardly lazy as it is quite a coup to get it and it's never been seen in the UK before. And being a business the point is to make money. It's not a charity or subsidised theatre.

It's smart programming - particularly since I doubt Barnum was anything like as financially successful for them as some of their other winter musicals have been. This will bring in an audience - and yes, absolutely, getting it is a coup for them.

Yes, of course it's a business that has to make money, but in my humble opinion (and this is a discussion board), it IS lazy programming in the same way that casting Marcus Brigstocke in the lead of their last production was a highly questionable decision (which I imagine was the main cause of the production losing money). For me, TMCF used to be an exciting innovative theatre but it's been a long time since there's been anything on there that I've wanted to see. Southwark and now The Other Palace (in my opinion) are housing more interesting work. I can see the thinking behind programming Spamilton, but I wouldn't personally classify it as a coup (unlike something like Fun Home or Heathers). Sorry to disagree with you, but like everything on this board, it's a subjective view.

If we all agreed with each other this would be a very boring forum.

I can see the thinking behind programming Spamilton, but I wouldn't personally classify it as a coup (unlike something like Fun Home or Heathers). During the first year of Hamilton's run in London, it is almost certain to sell very well. It's a long-running hit in New York. Other theatres in London will certainly have been pursuing it too. Whether or not you agree, it is certainly a coup for the Menier to have landed it.

There are a "strictly limited" number of £19:50 tickets for this, at the sides. Be quick!

Now that’s a reasonable price. Hopefully the MCF are becoming more real with pricing structures

I got mine this morning too at the end of July for £19.50. Maybe after KOTSW selling so poorly they are trying to preempt the same thing happening as they had a lot of discounts towards the end of its run.

I got Row B sides for July 20 for £19.50. There seemed to be a fair selection of inexpensive seats.

Yet another example of how this board is so helpful. I have just managed to nab a couple of cheap tickets for a Sunday matinee in early September (to mark the start of the new school year) for my soon to be 17 yr old daughter and her friend. They loved seeing Hamilton back in January and this will be right up their street. As it is a 3.30pm performance I am guessing they will take themselves for a grown up meal afterwards. One of the great joys (amid the perils) of bringing up children in London is being able to furnish them with knowledge of the tube system and the ability to take advantage of the cultural delights the city offers.

Jek - sounds a perfect treat! If they are looking for a place to eat, they might want to check out Flat Iron Square which is just minutes away: www.flatironsquare.co.uk/ Not expensive, casual, a wide choice of stalls/restaurants. We love the Pad Thai there. And, of course, there's always the Menier itself (burgers, big desserts.)

Thanks foxa. I'll point them in that direction. Of course, it seems only ten minutes ago that I was taken them to primary age theatre nearby at the Unicorn! Time certainly does fly.
