You can't cut the bed swap - it is absolutely central to the plot. You also can't leave out the Duke - the biggest role in the play. And the Duke/Isabella interaction is right at the core of the play. I was worried with the part of that interview where it was revealed that they haven't worked out how it will all work. If I were undertaking something like this, I would want the revisions all clear in my mind before I set out. Do they do this to just get an interest going? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I’m thinking of starting a campaign for the protection of gender specific roles in Shakespeare. Measure for Measure is THE play we need today. It has a heroine who is sexually harassed. It has young people breaking the rules. It presents sexuality as positive and innocent. It has a tyrant who is a hypocrite. Not enough in all that to arouse a smidgen of interest? It also has a wonderful 'breaking the rules anarchic' character who refuses to comply with the tyranny and he wins out! This is the play for today and so hey, let's mess it about and patronise everyone. And, and.. it isn’t Macbeth, it is not done that often. I'll book of course. The Duke, Isabella, Angelo, Pompey or maybe Elbow? Or did you mistype and mean she not he. Then it maybe Isabella or Mistress Overdone. Not sure that at the end anyone has won anything. Too many dark corners. Not sure winning is what the play is all about. By the way best Mistress Overdone I saw was the late wonderful Beatrice Reading. She should have been Isabella. |

Barnardine is the best character in the whole play, his "I will not consent to die this day" is particularly iconic. Hard to believe he only has one brief appearance comprising of a mere seven lines!

And EASILY the most tedious of those three productions was the one done in the most traditional style. Literally the ONLY good thing about that production was meeting an internet buddy in the flesh for the first time, and sitting with her by the Thames afterwards, drinking wine and shouting about the patriarchy.

Gets done more than you'd think - I saw three productions in 2015 (Globe, Cheek by Jowl and Young Vic) I've seen it 7 times, on average once every 4-5 years, this makes it one of the lesser performed plays. I think it should be performed more because I've never really seen a bad production of it (but that 2015 Young Vic one was mediocre). |

I saw Aristorats at the National in 2005. I remember it well as it was a rare night out when our three kids were small. Also, it was a couple of nights after the London tube attacks so there was a sort of nervous but uncharacteristically friendly atmosphere on the Jubilee Line that night. But had no idea until I read the post by barrowside that Andrew Scott was in it - though I remember a lovely performance by Gina McKee (later so good in Friel's Faith Healer at the Donmar). I will certainly be attempting to get tickets for the Donmar production - being second generation Irish and keen on Brian Friel I already have them for Translations at the National. |

You obviously had the magic fingers this morning Monkey. I was using three devices and best I got was over 500 at the Donmar and over 5000 at the NT. Still got OK tickets, but I always find Donmar booking disappointing when I get in and try different dates and there's rarely anything in central Stalls.

A nice and easy booking session for the Donmar this morning. I got the £10 circle tickets that I wanted for both productions with no hassle.

I usually log into 3 devices at 10.00am prompt and wait ages.
Completely forgot today but logged on at 4pm.
No queue. Grabbed the seats I wanted.
Lesson learned!

I was slightly further ahead in the queue on my phone than on my PC, but then my PC queue overtook my phone queue, and I'm not sure how, but I'm secretly relieved because it's a terrible website and I'd HATE to have to use my phone to book!
As per, Internet Explorer is getting me in FAR quicker than Chrome.

Phone position in the queue was 30 - so through quite quickly. I suspect all the stalls seats for Measure for Measure will be gone by now - very few left but I did manage to get a couple for a Saturday matinee

I managed side stalls for Measure of Measure on a Saturday matinee. Pleased with that - my mum decided she wanted to see it, so I wanted decent seats for her.
We're on the front corner of the side - so a diagonal view, in practice, rather than completely side-on.

Very little left - managed to get a back row stalls seat for Aristocrats preview (hooray, David Dawson!) though it'll probably mean the overnight bus home, and a back row stalls Sat Mat for Measure for Measure late in the run. Also got £15 front rows to Lehman Bros at the NT.
I have never tried using the website update scanner for returns on their website - any advice if anyone has? It's such a weird website I wouldn't know which page to set it to scan.

Due to poor planning on my part I was interviewing someone at 10 which wasn't ideal but I was 8th in the queue so got away with it |

Oh, and a tip for anyone doing the multiple-device thing and doesn't want the pain of actually booking on your phone - if you get it to email you your place in the queue, you can access your phone queue place from a PC.

Forgot booking opened today until about 10:20, was number 1800 or so in queue, still managed to get £10 seats for both shows |

I have a very particular £10 seat I like to sit in, and it's almost always still available when I get through the queue. I think the nice thing about the Donmar is that the people rushing to get tickets seem more likely to be going for the better seats than the cheaper ones, leaving me to snaffle my favourite cheapie. |

Showed as hardly any left first time round so trapped random tickets, went back to check and more appeared. Got through quick, well would have done if not in stupid interview so missed spot.
