Very excited to hear its transferring! Thoroughly enjoyed it at the National, and the Duke of Yorks is a very nice theatre that I think has housed quite a few NT transfers recently

Given how well it sold, it’s not too surprising it’s transferring. Nice return to the Duke of York’s for Laura Wade as Posh went there back in 2012

I am very interested to hear how this works in The WE. I dIdn’t Like it at the National but have a feeling it may find a better fit in its new home. I wonder why the National is still so afraid of programming women who might have a much fiercer vision than Wade and Raine who both write fairly similar intelligent, well crafted, but fairly light comedies.

I think the title is clever - an inversion of the stereotypical retro domestic greeting which conjures the mood of the piece but all is not what it seems.

I accept I may well think that once I've seen it, but right now it kind of irritates me, like it's trying to be clever. The NT released a small number of Entry Pass seats this afternoon - Upper Circle at fairly random dates throughout the run. I've been waiting for them to pop up, so I've nabbed one for the 11th of March.

Went to third preview last night and found it in very good shape. KP is superb as is Susan Brown - really loved the set. Pretty full house from what I could see too. Hope it does well.

Saw today's matinee at the Duke. Really liked it, even with my "obstructed view" seat. Katherine was great!

I thought this was a bit flat particularly in the first half, it did spark into a bit of life after the interval, mainly thanks to Susan Brown.
I actually don't think it's a great role for Katherine Parkinson as the character is very one note most of the way through. It's interesting how much more engaging she was in the flashback scene when she was allowed to have a full personality which is rather the point I suppose but it's hard to really care about such a bland character.

I thought this was fabulous yesterday afternoon, I really enjoyed it. Loved the Set and Costumes, they were beautiful. I'd even go as far as to say I wouldn't be mad if an Olivier goes their way for Costume, there were beautiful! Katherine was just brilliant! What a performance, she really does carry the show on her own having only left the stage for changes. Also. Siobhan Harrison as the friend, she was also fabulous, and looked beautiful. It's great to see her play funny and look stunning. But MVP has to be Susan Brown, who may only be in two scenes, but when she's on, it's fire. Especially in Act 2 where she has a long monologue about Katherine's choices and how the 50's weren't what some imagine it too be, it drew a generous ovation from the audience following because it was so fantastically performed. She was brilliant. I'd thoroughly recommend if you can catch it before the end of the run in April.  |

In the Dior exhibition at the V&A I noticed a dress from 1953 which is the one I suspect they copied for this. Or similar. As I’ve noted before though, fashion doesn’t trickle down as fast as costumiers would have us believe. I think quite a number of women in the 50s at home would be wearing something warmer, no central heating and a pinafore.
