Katherine Parkinson guesting right now on Saturday Kitchen Live and no doubt filling us in about this!

Oooh lovely, rehearsals! She's heading to The Nash. Dame Katherine Parkinson peeking out from behind a door and more. Including Barnaby Kay and Kathryn Drysdale having lots of jolly japes. Other people are in it too. Let me just slip on my waders

Only just made the connection, Laura Wade worked with Katherine Parkinson in Kreutzer vs Kreutzer at the Wanamaker a few years ago.
Absoulutely adored that production (one of the best things I've seen at the Wanamaker), a two hander with Sam West, backed by great music and the intimacy of candlelight.

a two hander with Sam West Oh I think we've all enjoyed that haven't we? Don't remember being at the Sam Wanamaker though . . .

Saw this last night in a sweltering Theatr Clywd. Way too long at over 2hr 45 mins and a bizarre plot that just didn't seem to go anywhere. Same points made over and over again, and not sure what issues Laura Wade was trying to explore. Women can't be housewives without driving their husband away? The 50s weren't as glossy as we remember them? No idea. There's also a dodgy #metoo subplot that seems to have been tacked on to the end. You know you're in trouble when its billed a comedy and the biggest laugh comes during a musical scene change.
Katherine Parkinson her usual fabulous self (and dressed in some fantastic frocks) but what a dud of a play. Hope it gets some big cuts and dramaturgical restructuring before heading down south.

^ You and quite a few others; it’s sold out. Well it is at the moment until everyone starts returning their tickets.
(The NT should be getting used to this now...)

That, said, I am not trying to be mean here but the only two positive things that Phantom1986 has ever said on this board we’re about Angels in America and Glenda Jackson’s Lear. When someone tends to only post negative things, I tend to put less stock in what they say because I don’t calibrate my tastes to negativity.

O dear. I’ve booked this. Don't worry - it's good! Just got back so more thoughts tomorrow but we enjoyed it - it tackles several issues and trends in the air at the moment (also, that's our kitchen! And our teapot!). The Guardian piece a few days ago gives loads of elements away so don't read it before seeing it, if you prefer to see things unfold. It reminded me a bit in tone (beside the obvious 50s sitcom, house beautiful comparisons) of those old Posy Simmonds strips - and more ambiguous than the impression give by the Graun piece imo.

Hooray! And I've already seen the Guardian article as I'm naturally interested in any news of this production, but I never mind knowing things in advance; quite the opposite in fact.

For anyone still hoping for tickets to this at the NT, it might be worth checking your emails. It seems that around midday they released a whole bunch of seats. When I checked a couple of mins ago every date has available seats ranging from £15-45 (row B of the pit and side seats in the circle for most days).
As far as I can tell, if you go to the site as a member of public the dates are all showing as 'sold out', but the NT sent round emails with a link that means that the dates are showing as available. Presumably this went to all subscribers (or advance members?) so if you're interested then check your email/spam.

(spam checked!). Any chance you could share the link? Thanks

I imagine this will transfer to the WEst End, so those of us who missed out will get a chance to see it then.

Thanks Sorry, it's a personalised link rather than a general one (i.e. it's the /shows/home-im-darling address with a string of random characters after it), so I can't really put it online.
I had assumed that it was sent out to everyone, but if you haven't received it then it's possible it was a random selection or something. Apologies, but fingers crossed you manage to get tickets.

Not sure the rules on sharing this kind of info but it really is obvious and there are lots of tickets left.

Managed to guess the code on the second try, returned the expensive ticket I'd reluctantly booked originally and got one in the middle of row B instead for much cheaper (sat there for The Great Wave and view was fine). There's about 20+ seats available for every date at the moment at various prices after putting in the code.
Bless this board!

Reminds me of Macbeth (back when we were all excited about the NT's Macbeth, remember those days? Oh how wrong we were), when I had fairly rubbish seats and saw an advert on facebook that said 'new seats released' or something, and it revealed swathes of £15 tickets. I went to the computer and looked up the same dates, no availability. It was only for people clicking on the advert. I phoned the box office to try and switch seats but she told me they couldn't access them either, you had to do it through this link.
