I thought the exact same thing. The film was released what 13 years ago? So I must have seen it around 11/12 years ago and despite loving the musical and seeing it multiple times I hadn't watched the film again until last night. I didn't remember the film but it did surprise me just how much dialogue is used in the musical that's been lifted exactly from the film, I rather enjoyed that aspect though.
After watching the film I now can't wait to see the tour cast in Northampton later on this month!

From looking at numerous Instgram posts/stories regarding swing maps and set builders, the Tour has the set like the current China Tour. NOT like the full London set  It’s a shame since it’s first (and maybe last) UK Tour It is understandable though, because the tour is visiting smaller venues that might not be able to support the full size set. |

I've looked at pics of the American 2NT set and it looks miniature. I can't imagine it filling larger stages (e.g. Edinburgh Playhouse) very well if this is the design they're using. http://instagram.com/p/BibxsnaguZ8 |

So the set for this tour is nothing like the China or American
2nt. It is exactly the same as the London production
Obviously a bit smaller. With the factory walls and everything

My main concern is hopefully there being a cast board due to swings, children etc. There probably will be one but I'm paranoid there won't be so I won't definitely know who I'm seeing.

Got a friend seeing tonight (and the private dress rehearsal earlier today) and apparently there are no children from what I have heard. The Factory Walls are a cleverly painted drop without a door. The Set is simplier version of London, but Not like the China Set. |

I guess they could skip straight to the scene with Nicola and the shoes instead of doing the kids bit.
The reason why there are no kids is probably no time to rehearse them for smaller stops.
Hopefully they’ve not done a Shrek tour and replaced the kids with puppets.

It's easy to edit out Young Charlie I suppose but Young Lola has the ever so slightly larger part in the opening song, they'll probably just edit that part of the song out completely. |

As need them charlie when he grows up in the opening ... at the end too when they run to their dads such a touching moment Interestingly I had an email from Wolverhampton yesterday offering top price tickets for only £25 ..... but it appeared to have sold well already looking at seat plan unless they hadn’t put rear upper circle on sale ? As for most nights it saw all grey which means sold out ? Confusing but at least I get to see the tour now |

And what happened with the bit when younger Lola usually comes out ? I'm glad to hear it got a standing ovation, still a few months until I'm able to see it. |

I think it was the same as the adult Charlie. Lola and the angels were great as always. I thought Paula made a lovely Lauren - her facial expressions were very funny.

Joel plays younger Charlie, and Nicola will be singing the young Lola lines as if she's still in the shop looking at the wedding shoes, likely slightly modified to suit her sitch better. Seeing it next week so if no-one else has said it yet I'll try and remember to jot them down here!
