Great news! Love this musical having seen it both in London and on tour over the years and am going to book for the Liverpool Empire using my ATG card. However, on the last tour, I was really disappointed in its actor-musician version. I just thought it didn’t work for this type of show. It’s the the first time I actually came out of the show not bouncing off the walls and my ear drums bleeding.
It took far too long to get into Staying Alive and the overall presentation of those iconic songs just didn’t work for me and felt really cheap in terms of the music. Whoever decided to strip the songs back and lose the disco feel needed flogging. I just wished they had spent more money on the musical aspects of this show and actually employed a proper band to play the music.
I know BK shows can be a bit hit or miss, but hopefully the show will keep the songs as the Bee Gees wrote them and I will be very happy.

Oh yes please be good. I really like the show even if it just grinds to a halt rather than finishing satisfactorily. Make it big and make sure ‘Nights on Broadway’ is still in there!

“Reimagined” “big” and “spectacular” according to the glimpse I got of The Stage article before it disappeared behind the paywall.

The last actor/ musician tour was awful. Sucked all the life out of it.

I hope to God this isn’t a “reimagining” version. I don’t know how you can do it. All you need to do is put the film on stage. Don’t mess with the plot, locations and music. It doesn’t need to be rewritten. It’s a iconic film and score and should remain as such. Any attempt to deviate from this will feel my wrath!

I hope more dates are added and this comes to the North East. Loved the show when I saw the tour years ago and the soundtrack with Adam Garcia is great 😊

I loved the original palladium version of this but that tour the other year with people in the nightclub playing trumpets and saxophones was bloody awful 😂

OK. I'll ask then.
What's reimagined?

I must dust off my white suit. Will you make it shine? Will it take forever or just a minute of your time?

Well I am now polishing my boogie shoes, though I have a bit of a night fever as this disco is something of an inferno. I'm just about stayin alive.

*sighs* OK. I'll ask then. What's reimagined? I have had a quick look at the report in the Stage newspaper that B.B. mentioned. However, it doesn’t give much insight into what BK intends to do. It does state that it will pay homage to the film whilst being a big music and dance spectacular that B.B. has already stated. We can but wait and see.

The last actor/ musician tour was awful. Sucked all the life out of it. I was convinced when I saw that tour that maybe something was wrong with me. I would love to ask the M.D. of that tour why they took the approach to the music they did as the style they came up with just didn’t work on any level.

Just saw on facebook Richard Winsor as Tony. (Matthew Bourne's shows/Casualty) He is mid 30s - bit old to play a 19 year old but I am still very tempted to go now.

Homage: As the film was projected onto the silver screen. BK will project the set onto the flats left over from Joseph.

Received this in the email about Wimbledon:
Sounds to me like it's going the Strictly Ballroom direction with "the Bee Gees" singing all the songs. A new way to bring in the tribute act audience.

I was thinking about this, but the above details and the fact there's very little ATG card discount in Bristol has put me off.

Nonononononooooooo. Down’t do that! First actor musician, now this nonsense...have a word! Well this is different. I thought the last tour was bad with the actor/musician approach, could this be even worse? I think it will work for some songs like Night fever and you should be dancing, but others like if I can't have you and tragedy which are solo numbers, it potentially could be a mess. Why not just employ a proper band? This isn't rocket science people. I'm going next month to the Liverpool empire to watch this so will go in with an open mind.

It doesn't sound that different to the Dirty Dancing way of doing it. Which I personally dislike - but it is certainly a style that doesn't put people off going to the theatre (sadly)

Well jist saw the first half of this in Wimbledon... Could be bothered to see act 2 as was so dull. Cast didnt seem to have any chemistry. Slow moving. Most songs sung live by "bee gees" at back of stage. Set looked expensive by kenright standards. Except the stupidest looking diner ever, (half a booth seat on centre stage!) Same disco dance routine done to every music number.

I was there last night. I thought the 3 "Bee Gees" should have been allowed to come down to the front of the stage to take the final bow as they did virtually all the singing.Quite different from the original production.
