Hytner is really attracting top playwright for the Bridge with Martin McDonagh and now Alan Bennett although the latter wasn't a huge surprise considering Hytner and Bennett have a working relationship

Tickets sorted for this one on the advanced membership Me too. Very easy. I must admit I wasn't sure what level of membership I was and couldn't see where to find out, but it let me buy them OK. A coup for the theatre, though perhaps not an unexpected one. Hytner does seem to have a lot of stuff in the pipeline, though a couple of them are novel adaptations, which I don't see the point of. Was hoping for news of the SRB Bach play at some stage. I wonder if his film career will take off after his raves in Death of Stalin. I see he is in a Mexican film that has just been shown at the Berlin film festival, Museum, which sounds rather good.

Bridge seems to be a mix of the big stuff which sells well and the smaller stuff which may not do. Ambitious at least

I am wondering if this will lure Alex Jennings back to the theatre but his TV/Film career seems to have finally taken off.

Yes, this does seem ripe for casting some older ‘veterans’ in the nursing home patients

I notice they have Monday performances for this and My Name is Lucy Barton so I wonder if Sunday matinees have been quietly axed from My Name is Lucy Barton onwards.

Touche re Dani above. PEOPLE really was the pits. Aren't they always? That's why I generally look down on them as a matter of course.

I hope this is better than People. I see this new play mentions a film crew. Isn't that what People (which wasn't great at all) was about as well?

People was dreadful. Hytner really is determined to make the bridge the same boring old venue he made the NT at the end of his tenure. Same dreary Alan Bennett’s , probably starting Jennings and De La Tour, lots of polite tittering in the stalls at an unfunny script.

We don’t know who it will be starting [sic] at the moment, but whoever it does, we’ll be there at the Bridge in our twin-sets and pearls politely tittering in the stalls. And you’ll have to guffaw elsewhere for a bit. Because theatre is for everyone. Isn’t it?

altamont, the critics were generally kind to PEOPLE coz they were scared not to be (Libby Purves gave it 5 stars if you please). Actual people - remember them LOL? - knew better.

I guess that will partly depend on how much they're doing with his character in The Crown in the next series. I can't see them bothering to recast for age, as they are with the Queen and Phillip.
