I'd quite like Barnum. I've seen the filmed version with Michael Crawford and really enjoyed it. I like most of the songs too, and the instrumental chases.

Instead of these recent concerts of shows that are still very much part of the current repertoire, I would love a return of the Lost Musicals events.
We are never going to see large scale revivals of many glorious scores from the 20th century.
Ivor Novello, Noel Coward, Vivian Ellis and many more all wrote massively popular shows that no longer get an airing.
But bring together a talented cast and a good sized orchestra and you could reintroduce these lost shows to audiences.
There are plenty of US shows that would also benefit from being rediscovered.
I know the market has moved on but we should also celebrate our heritage. Concerts are a great way to do that - as long as they are done well.
You never know, a lost show might touch the heart of a director and/or bold producer and a full scale revival would happen

Is it too soon to ask for an Avenue Q revival? As much as I'd love it, I'm just not sure how it would play in the current climate. At least without revisions and maybe cutting 'everyone's a little bit racist' Or it could be the show to remind people not everything has to be taken seriously 100% of the time.

I would love to see One Touch of Venus But having been in it, I don't want to see Weill's Knickerbocker Holiday. Other than September Song and It Never Was You, there is very little memorable music in it.

The recent (2013) production at Chichester was very good - surprisingly as it was directed by Timothy Shreader (imfamously CamMac had a falling out with him as shown on a doctumentary at the time )although the leading man was nothing "special".This version later toured with Brian Coneley.The Meiner Chocolate Factory version (2018) was NOT due to the horrendous charisma lacking Marcus Bridgstock.The show really needs a multi talented leading man but then I was lucky to see the first (and last) night of Michael Crawford in the Palladium's first run. It's not a show I particularly like but if it was to be revived, Charlie Stemp is the only actor I can think of that could pull it off.

I only found out about the original concerts near the end of their life so I only saw a couple but I enjoyed those I did see. However if more were done I'd want them to be the originals, not totally rewritten for "modern sensibilities".

I saw the recent Annie Get You Gun concert and pretty much everything apart from the main story was reduced to the brief narration to the point that when the supporting characters got to do their song you weren’t quite sure who they were.

Been told reliably they are workshopping another version of “Umbrellas of Cherbourg” in French with surtitles now the rights have reverted. Seems perfect fodder for the TOP (eventually).

Additional, their biggest concern is casting and the struggles even getting people to privately workshop. There isn’t sufficient French talent and have broadened the search.

Well written narration, such as I recall from the famous Bernstein concert of Candide, can really work. So I think it can still play a role in concert performances. The Bernstein Candide concert is a masterclass in how to do it. Although it is helped by the fact that the 1988 version of Candide is very heavily narrated anyway and so it lends its self to even further narration. I suspect Pacific Overtures would also translate well to the concert-narration format. Works that don’t have a narrator aka most musicals will make for a harder challenge but it is doable in the right and respecting hands.

And The Bridges of Madison County- in fact, anything by Jason Robert Brown Did you see it at the Menier? It wasn't that long ago, maybe 2019? I went to it but for some reason can remember only that Jenna Russell was in it but not much else!

Stephen Ward - I don't know why I missed this. I really don't. I was addicted to 'Human Sacrifice' before it even opened. I was addicted to the cast album when it was running. But I just never bought tickets. One of my bigger theatre-related regrets!
Dance of the Vampires - I'd love a proper production of Tanz der Vampire. I don't think it could ever work in an English-speaking country, though. If you watch any of the bootlegs of the Broadway production, you'll notice that the moment the 'Totale Finsternis' starts, the entire audience bursts into laughter - they expect it to be a comedy purely because they recognise Total Eclipse. Maybe it could work somewhere like Charing Cross.
Lestat - Sticking with the vampire theme... Lestat! Just watch: This deserves a second chance somewhere. But Elton John didn't even allow the pre-recorded cast album to be released he was so embarrassed by it, so I don't think that'll ever happen.
