Did anyone else catch this in the 90s in town?
I loved it. It was the first West End show both my kids saw.
Can't wait for the revival at St James. Wonder who will be in the cast??

Anyone else booked for this? I have very fond memories of the original production and since then the cd has been played as a perfect choice whenever I felt the need of cheering up.
I do sometimes dread going in with such high expectations as it often leads to slight disappointment but...

I have been considering it.
It's in the studio at St James, which is a very intimate space, so will probably have quite a different feel to the 90's production which was in a much larger theatre.

Honestly enjoyed it as much as I'd hoped. Doubt if there is more fun and joy to be had in any theatre in London. Immediately booked another trip. It's only here for three weeks!

How is the seating laid out for this show? Is it still around tables?
I love this venue but always find the seating a bit cramped, and somebody usually starts carping if you so much as move your chair! I keep hoping it will be better next time I go; I think they just cram too many seats (or tables?) in.

How is the seating laid out for this show? Is it still around tables? I love this venue but always find the seating a bit cramped, and somebody usually starts carping if you so much as move your chair! I keep hoping it will be better next time I go; I think they just cram too many seats (or tables?) in. Still the same awful seating setup. Why have tables that people can't sit around? Some of the staff are dreadful and officious and the box office staff are often not helpful. The only reasonable seats are the banquettes and with these you need to be careful of the poles. The gallery seating seems better. Shame really as it is a lovely, intimate space spoiled by tying to cram in too many chairs around unsuitable tables. Still, Forever Plaid is an absolute joy! |

Tried out the gallery on my last visit - much more comfortable viewing experience, if losing a little of the intimacy of downstairs. Would definitely sit up there again. |

Just seen the Sunday matinee and loved it. What a little gem of a show, with an impeccable cast. I thought they were all superb and could have happily listened to their beautiful harmonies for much longer. It's wittily done, with a lot of silent gags coming in the choreography.
They all have gorgeous voices, and Matthew Quinn was especially impressive as he both sang and played the double bass. Last time I saw him was in Leader of the Pack at Waterloo East, where he also sang and played (bass guitar, I think, that time) - talented guy.
This is only on for one more week, and I would highly recommend it.
