I think a series, crime thriller. But not with cliches, he says. Ha de ha ha
But if anything like his early tv work, might be worth watching.

I believe John Heffernan is a cast member in this, along with the higher profile cast members, so I'll definitely be tuning in when it arrives.

I only twigged yesterday that the new David Hare series starring John Simm is on BBC2 tonight at the same time as the new Mike Bartlett series starring John Simm on ITV.

^That has confused me so much - I hardly watch live TV and have half caught bits of trailers for both...I like Adrian Lester so started to pay more attention but he wasn't always in the trailer, if you see what I mean!
Must be so annoying for the actor when this happens. You'd think their agents had a touch more power to avoid it.

Bonkers to put same actor opposite himself as it were. Not everyone has iPlayer or some sort of catch up. Nice to get the work I expect but a bit of management required here all round.

Opted for the Hare as it slightly won out with a few more great cast members, aim to catch up on Bartlett later. Could just watch Billie Piper slinging pizza and chain for hours and then along come Cary Mulligan and Nicola Walker, Mr Simms was sadly someway day my list of ohh must watch.

Well I liked this quite a lot compared to other shows that have been on recently like next for kin or hard sun. Found it very engaging and it was all sh*t very nicely, all the cast we're very good and it is not too predictable, looking forward to the coming episodes.

I liked it too - I don't think I've actually ever seen Carey Mulligan in anything before but she has a great voice. However, someone should tell her that it's impossible to squat down at 6 months pregnant and get up again without the aid of scaffolding whilst emitting loud grunting noises. (But she's good - though the jury's still out as to whether she'll do as well as Keeley would have.)
Love love love Nicola Walker and I also liked the police side-kick bloke. Billie Piper is enormously irritating, as is the blond MP - very unconvincing, reminds me of someone resurrected from a long-ago soap. John Simm's character doesn't have a type, does he? An MP, a vicar and a flake.
Loved the Syrian woman's death stare. I shall be practising that one for use after half term.

Yeah, liked it. Not as crisp as his earlier stuff but a touch of the rose tinted might be playing here. Kept me guessing and loved the female characters. Regular Monday sofa spot for me.

Yes, I thought he was great and definitely one to watch out for in the future. It's a shame there's not really a theatre version of IMDB. (I don't count Wiki.) I watched the other John Simm thing and it's awful. Adrian Lester is great, but the script is dreadful. So many "No way would that happen in real life" moments, like a father walking into an operating theatre just as the surgeon has his son's heart literally in his hands. John Simm's character is also extremely unlikeable and the whole thing's weird. Collateral is by far the better of the two shows. |

Billie Piper is enormously irritating She is - it reminded me of why I didn't like Yerma (I've liked her in things in the past). Great cast, but I thought this had some very clunky exposition, especially in that scene where Mulligan's former pole -vaulter-turned-teacher-turned-detective turns up at the crime scene. And that bedroom talk about the LABOUR PARTY, what was that, oh yes, the LABOUR PARTY. Btw, I hope it's Chekhov's pole vaulting, and at some point plays a part in the plot, preferably when she's up against the rubber-clad assassin - with one bound she was free sort of thing. The Mike Bartlett thing on the other channel sounds a bit like The Killing of a Sacred Deer, though presumably they were in production at around the same time. |

At 6 months pregnant? 😉 The Mike Bartlett thing on the other channel is so awful I cannot formulate the words. But I'm going to call it now so look away if you haven't seen episode 2 and care. I reckon there is something wrong with the doctor's hands, and he knows it - he dropped his daughter off a mountain and keeps tapping. So, sadly, psycho Simm is right, despite his one-a-minute suspension of belief ridiculous antics. |

He played a loveable loser in the ITV family comedy-drama Love and Marriage. It wasn't high art, but I would love to have seen a second series of it. (That might be it though.)

Have to admit did think he's getting type cast on tv which is a shame as whilst he does smarmy guy so well he can equally do the reverse but baemax is right he did do that very different itv thing.

I know she's a detective and her job is to find out stuff but I always find Carey Mulligan looks as though she's permanently perplexed. Doesn't give you much faith in her skills as a detective.
And remind me never to go to Nicola Walker's house for tea if she insists on putting the milk in first.
