If anyone hasn't seen the show for a while it's worth going now, especially on a Monday night!!!
Thanks for reconfirming that. After seeing Peter Lockyer twice I am eager for a different Valjean. Not that he isn't good but his Valjean left me cold both times

Thanks for reconfirming that. After seeing Peter Lockyer twice I am eager for a different Valjean. Not that he isn't good but his Valjean left me cold both times I had the same thing with Peter. I saw the show for the very first time back last year November. Honestly I didn't feel for going back. But told to go back to see Adam as Valjean. Yep that was it. On Monday will be my 20th time seeing Adam as JVJ. Apparently Peter is leaving in December. He told someone at stage door his contract was only 6 months.

I wouldn't object to Peter leaving. I do like him, but after two and a half years a change in that role would provide a big energetic shift, I think, for people revisiting the show. I agree, Peter's performance left me a little cold too.

Great review, indeed. I agree about Zoe, some her facial expressions were questionable but I normally don't pay that much attention to Cossette. I didn't mind little Gavroche, but he didn't throw the bag over on the show I saw as well, and it was a day after you saw it!

Rachelle, Eva and Zoe are leaving in December too, this'll feel like more of a cast change than the actual designated June one!

I'll have to get round to seeing Les Mis again before December then as I'd like to see Zoe Doano as Cosette, after being impressed by her singing at a concert last year. Unlike what seems to be the majority of people, Cosette is one of my favourite characters.
It's annoying that the posting of holiday dates has been banned as I want to try to avoid Adam Pearce being on for Javert. Just seeing him in the ensemble last time I saw Les Mis was giving me flashbacks to a scene I detested in The Light Princess so I really couldn't cope with seeing his Javert.

Saw Adam Pearce as Javert last time and he was actually very good which pleasantly surprised me. Not a patch on Jeremy Secomb though, although no one I've seen in the role even comes remotely close, except perhaps Tam Mutu.

James Gant was terrific, the best since Quast imo

Any idea who will take over from Peter? Will they make Adam Bayjou lead Valjean or will they bring in another Valjean? If they cast another Valjean I'd like to see Hans Peter Janssens return to the role. I saw him in a few other shows and he was very good.

James Gant was terrific, the best since Quast imo He was absolutely electrifying the night I saw him! Electrifying as who,Valjean or Javert? I know he played both roles while he was in Les Mis but much more often played Javert and I didn't know Philip Quast had ever played Valjean! There seems to be some confusion. He was certainly an excellent Javert on the many occasions I saw him.
I'm hoping Adam Bayjou will take over as JVJ if Peter does leave. I've made many 400 mile round trips when I've known he and other covers are on but unfortunately due to Cameron Mackintosh's stupid gagging rule I won't be able to do that anymore! Train fares are prohibitive if not booked well in advance so my trips to Les Mis will be limited from now on. It's a real 'slap in the face' for both fans of the show and the covers and swings who do such a great job. I can only hope that Mr.Mackintosh rethinks this ridiculous policy!!!

They gave a few leads leaving in December. I reckon they will get back people in some cases to play the roles. I also reckon they could get back Edd Campbell Bird as Marius. Also one if my faves in the show Oli Brenin who is current 2nd cover JVJ had a chat with Zoe that was posted on the Les Mis twitter. He said about having his debut JVJ show and developing his voice for coving. During the video said quote ''The more I get on'' (not if or when) now concidering it was 3 months before he got a shot at playing Valjean and last cast year between Luke McCall & Bradley Jaden they only got 3 shows over 2 days. I would have thought Oli wouldn't get many more days as JVJ. Esp if they get someone new who most likey wouldn't take a holiday for a while and Adam rarely has his JVJ days off. Unless Oli knows he'll get to be on more and the only way will be if he knows he'll be 1st cover. Hense thats why I really believe now Adam will be bumbed up to lead.

The only JVJ I can recall ever being promoted to full-time was Sean Kingsley and that was a disaster. These big shows don't like bumping up understudies - generally, you have to leave and then come back. Doubt he'll get it.
Anyone who knows Cam Mac's internal casting policy knows it's always "safety first". In the newest Miss Saigon making of DVD he says (paraphrased): "I'm not really one for changing things that don't need to be changed".
That's why we see the same, trusted performers again and again and again and again in the biggest shows.
I reckon someone experienced in the role will return. There qre hundreds of covers over the years who perhaps have "deserved" a run but they are told they are "too valuable" in the ensemble or other such nonsense and not given a break.

I've heard they are taking the original cast over. But surely that wouldn't be both Craig and Nadim? They played the same part!

I know it's not one of the big roles but last year they bumped up Bradley from ensemble to play Enjolras. I saw Adam back in November for the first time and each time since then he's got stronger and stronger.I have noticed he gets a lot if postive comments after he has his Valjean shows as well. Consider all the fuss CamMac company as made about social media use recently. I'm sure they are aware of what people post about the actors on it. Any way we will see come I guess November when they will announce the cast change.

I think I've read Nadim saying on Twitter that he's contracted to Phantom for another year. Also he became a dad only last month so would he want to go to New York with a small baby?
