Any rumour of cast change? Sha, Jon, Bradley, Richard, Kathy are all definitely leaving so we'll for sure be getting a new JVJ, Javert and Eponine. No rumours about replacements that I know of though.

Before covid it was always the second (or third?) weekend in June. There was a cast change in I think September during pandemic times though, so that might be the new schedule now.

Sha posted an Insta story on 25th May that there were exactly 4 months left to see her, so final performance of this cast will be on 25th September, new cast start 27th.

I went to see this for the first time this week, after many years of watching the filmed concerts and listening to many cast recordings. I thought it was mostly fantastic, but I do agree with what has been said here about it being too changed to please the general public. I personally felt much more joy in the positive moments of the story or just listening to the brilliant songs, than whenever the Thenardiers made some silly unneccesary joke (which most of the audience didn´t enjoy that much either). The musicians, brilliantly conducted by Matthew Loughran, were the absolute standout of the show. Unlike in other West End musicals, the sound mixing was always perfect and all of them got their moments to shine. Cam must love the new orchestration, since he´s put a lot of money in the sound equipment.

Which day each week is scheduled for Jon to be off? I know contractually all actors playing JVJ are given 1 show off per week as it’s very vocally demanding.
Thanks!

Yes, definitely Thursday. Luke McCall is usually JVJ at this performance and he’s well worth catching. Excellent when I went in February.

So any news yet on who may be taking over from Jon and Bradley as Valjean and Javert respectively? It’s only a couple of months now until they depart 😢 Big boots to fill!

It's shaping up to be a big cast change I think! I wonder whether some of the tour cast will come and join the West End?

Dull. Dull. Dull.
Cameron Mackintosh is delighted to announce new cast members joining the critically acclaimed new production of LES MISÉRABLES at the Sondheim Theatre from Tuesday 27 September. Joining the company from 27 September will be David Thaxton as Javert, Ava Brennan as Fantine, Robert Tripolino as Marius, Nathania Ong as Éponine and Lulu-Mae Pears as Cosette. They join Jon Robyns as Jean Valjean, Gerard Carey as Thénardier, Josefina Gabrielle as Madame Thénardier and Jordan Shaw as Enjolras.

Nathania Ong was an excellent eponine on tour, in fact one of the best I've seen in 25+ years of seeing the show. So glad she is getting a west end run and highly recommend seeing her if you can

Thaxton was a terrific Javert when I saw him previously, so I'm not opposed to it personally.
Can't quite work out how much of an ensemble change over it is - can someone more invested in Les Mis let me know?

There’s several key players staying, but people like Luke McCall and Danny Colligan (amongst others) are moving on.

The ensemble staying (and assuming they are doing the same things they were before) are Emma Barr (swing currently on maternity), Matthew Dale (swing), Matt Dempsey (Bamatabois/Lesgle), Natalie Green (maternity cover Factory Girl), Christopher Jacobsen (Babet), Sarah Lark (swing), Georgie Lovatt (Old Woman), Ellie Ann Lowe (Factory Girl currently on maternity), Sam Peggs (swing), Phoebe Williams (ensemble) That's 17 new ensemble cast members

I'm very excited about Robert Tripolino whose Jesus I loved so much at the Barbican - although he seems way too old for Marius to me. Still, we so rarely get to see a charismatic Marius, so I have high hopes.
Thaxton as Javert is a bummer. I was excited about his first stint as Javert a few years ago and enjoyed his performance during the first month of his contract, but he grew bored of the role very very quickly. All subsequent visits he was very lacklustre and visibly bored - from his social media at the time I had the impression that he sees himself more as a rock star than a musical theatre actor and enjoyed playing in his band way more than being Javert night after night after night.
