Just on way back seeing it in Dudley ! VIP seats £18 but cinema lost electricity in the seats so got free pass for another film .... all vip seats full ..., family in Birmingham said 3/4 full some sound issues ... I thought it came over well was hoping for better sound quality but great to see so many close ups ... 5 time I’ve seen the show and saw bits I’d never seen .... lots of laughs at the one liners in our cinema ... heard people chatting in interval saying they loved it John was fab .... but must say Josie was AMAZING ! Omg ! The close ups tears welling up on her eyes ... Shobna really improved too a real tight cast .

£16 quid for Vue Manchester.
The camera work was unimaginative and there was an annoying vertical line of pixelation right down the centre of the screen which was ultra noticeable when actors were centre stage as it basically cut their faces in half.
Despite that it was lovely to see it again after Sheffield, quite a few changes or bits I didn’t remember. And I agree Josie Walker is fabulous.

£20 at Vue Altrincham. Two things I don't get, how do prices vary so much in the same cinema chain and how can Vue have the neck to say it costs more - I'd like that justified!!!
Anyway, I loved seeing it again and the whole cast was incredible.

Saw this at Bristol Everyman. About halfish full, but it was in their main screen which is pretty large. £21 or so.
Other than the odd bit of brief interference, the streaming was fine. The camerawork wasn't fantastic, but I much prefer a live screening to the more produced/sanitised cinema showings we've had like Miss Saigon (which was excellent - I just prefer to see it a little more like a real theatre experience).
The show has never tempted me enough to see it at the theatre. And I'm glad I didn't - I thought it was pretty woeful. Unbelievably one-dimensional stock characters throughout. Complete lack of sub-plot - it was just Jamie the whole time, which became tiring and I was desperate to hear about something else. In the most part, dull songs (maybe they fare better on multiple listens?). Could've done so much more in terms of an up-lifting, feel-good big ending.
The performances were on the whole excellent, though. Particularly Josie Walker, Shobna Gulati and Lucie Shorthouse. Couldn't work out whether I disliked John McCrea or just his self-obsessed character - but either way, his falsetto in the early numbers was shaky at best.
Not one for a repeat viewing for me, unfortunately...

Lovely to see the show on screen tonight after seeing it live in Feb.
John McCrea is just wonderful as Jamie - I just love him. So incredible to see Josie Walker this time, and she reduced me to tears for most of Act 2. Not keen on Shobna Gulati - I thought Mina Anwir was much better and funnier. And Lucie Shorthouse was once again brilliant as Pritti. It’s so great that this musical is screened around the country - people should see it. And I don’t see t dampening the sales of it either...
Lovey night out, and I’ll be returning at some point!

I was also in Altrincham (hallo Hulmeman, I wonder which one you were), and loved every second of it. The last few seconds of act One are sensational, and i'm glad had some redemption.....I think we were waiting for him all to be gay, but their version was better. Did I read that the actor playing dean is Jamie understudy.....nicely ironic. I was waiting for the teacher's phone call to an answer machine to have some pay off.....but I loved it. beautifully staged, and how exhausted must they be after eight shows a week.

I liked it but didn't love it, although the performances were excellent, Josie Walker in particular. I liked Shobna Gulati but can't compare her performance to Mina Anwar's. Screening was full and no tech glitches at all. My better half loved it and thought it was better than Kinky Boots. I had to disagree although I did really enjoy it.

£20.99! That''s extortionate! Isn't that pretty much the normal price for a theatre live relay at a cinema in London? I know that NTLive shows tend to be around the £20 mark and Royal Opera House live somewhat more. Given that cinema tickets in London seem to be about £15 for a regular evening screening - I'd expect these to be a little more expensive.

I saw it tonight also. I thought it was fine, with some rather interesting camera choices. Lucie and Josie clearly run the show, John was good too. I did come to realise with this viewing, Jamie isn't the most likable person in the world, which kinda adds to the idea of him just being a normal kid who makes mistakes like we all did. My screen was about half full, people seemed to enjoy it.

Was a shame you had picture quality seems we were lucky in the Midlands ... despite the odeon losing electricity in all its vip seats .... yep lots changes really when u think back to Sheffield the drag queens have so much more to do and better song... wish I could remember more from Sheffield to compare

Seems we got lucky with the screening here, great picture quality throughout and we didn’t lose signal at any point. Was disappointed with a few of the camera angles they chose but overall I thought they done a good job with it all. Sound quality seemed a bit patchy but that mainly seemed to be when they switched cameras. Yes it was an expensive ticket, cost us £22 in our local Odeon but it sold quite well (around half of one of the bigger screens) and it still worked out far far cheaper than getting to and seeing it in London. Second time seeing the show, first with Josie and Shobna, must admit I did really enjoy their portrayals. Need to get myself to London to see this again with them both, need to hear Josie sings ‘He’s my boy’ properly live

I wanted to see it but at £25 a cinema ticket I couldn't justify it having already seen it on stage for that much. I appreciate it's expensive to broadcast/host these things, and £25 is still cheaper than a trip to London to see it but I couldn't justify it for a return viewing.
Still glad it's been filmed properly for posterity, and that many people did get the chance to see it who couldn't make it to London. An especially important one for younger audiences to have access to.

Hopefully, they'll edit it and give it a commercial release, as with Billy Elliott and the like. It would be good almost all of the original cast preserved.

The screening was my first encounter with this show and story - other than seeing the original documentary.
The mother and Pritti were real stand-outs for me. Jamie was excellent of course, but a really unlikable character a lot of the time!
Unpopular view: My heart sank through the floor whenever Hugo was onstage - I thought he was truly dire, and if I was one of those kids working my talented rear end off, I'd be fuming he got a part! soz!
Loved Shobna.

Saw this for £16 at my local vue last night. No technical glitches or loss of signal. The screen was full and it had a great reception.
Having not known a lot about this show before seeing it I had no real expectations. I just loved it. I thought the songs were fantastic and loved the different genres of music used throughout. Love love loved Josie walker as the Mum and her lovely Carpenters-esque style. I thought Pritti was wonderfully endearing too. The ensemble had so much energy and the choreography was great, especially the sequence in “if I met myself again”. “He’s my boy” had me welling up, you could just feel the emotion coming through the screen.
Living in South Wales it’s not simple to hop to London every weekend so I think it’s great they do these live screenings. I would definately consider making the trip to London to see it in the flesh now.

I have one of those "see as much cinema as you want for a flat rate each month" cards. As long as I go to the cinema 2 or 3 times a month, it pretty much pays for itself, and although event cinema like Jamie isn't included, I do at least get a hefty discount. So while I could have paid £20 without the card, it only cost me £9 with the card. I don't know if I'd go to a screening of something I'd not seen on stage, but to be honest, I wouldn't have minded paying £20 as I already knew I loved the show, I knew my view would be good (or at least the same as everyone else's), I didn't have to book months in advance, and there's a LOT to be said for getting home within fifteen minutes of curtain.
I do wish theatre companies would get over the idea of live screenings though; I'd happily sacrifice the "live" experience if it meant cinemas were given a pre-filmed copy rather than having to hope that the satellite system didn't go wrong. We only got a couple of tiny glitches this time, but I've had some terrible NT Live experiences before now. You can still film a single live performance in front of a live audience, with no editing beyond switching between cameras, but for heaven's sake record it, lock it down, and send out a flawless copy.

I agree about the 'Live' thing, honestly I don't give a crap whether it's live-live as long as it was recorded live. Heck edit me together a couple of shows for all I care, what I want is a decent view of the show that I can see and hear for a reasonable amount/less travel.
As usual a bit of bleating on twitter about cinema screenings being the death of theatre. As much as I'd always, always encourage people to see live theatre, it does smack of a bit of M25 Privilege. It's not just the monetary cost (which is substantial) but also time, as above I'm home from my local cinema in 15-20 minutes, I have to take full days to go to London. Hell I'm cancelling a trip to London this weekend because I can't 'afford' both the time and money.

Watched this in Leeds last night and it was fantastic, perfect sound and picture and the cast was amazing. John and Josie were flawless and it was so much funnier than I expected. Can't wait for the movie now but I think they couldn't do worse than to have these two in the film, I suspect the mum will be someone like Sheridan Smith though!

Agreed - at the beginning, with NT Live etc, the ethos was about shared experience and 'as if you're all there together' - and they still do the pre-amble from the auditorium, show the audience etc.
Last night could have been filmed in a studio for all we cared, except for the wobbling... just shoot it like an EPK, edit it, and give everyone their money's worth

Loved Shobna. Actually I would agree, great voice when needed but his acting was a bit off and his drag queen was rubbish.

Watched Jamie for the third time last nigh, this time form Moscow! (The price in Moscow was about £10 with our average cinema tix price being £3-6). We had a rather quiet sound for the most of the time and it obviously didn’t feel as engaging as watching the show from the sedond row of the theatre. But the close ups and the intimate scenes worked well, only the bigger numbers left me a bit underwhelmed, as I knew how they work nicely in the actual theatre. Had a great evening and cried, like, five times! I like this show despite all its flaws and imperfections.
Very happy I got a chance of sharing the experience with my friends who can’t afford coming to London (currently visas are almost £100 and flights are around £250)

Ahhh, thats a shame, I might not get the chance to then, well not unless I sell my Kinky Boots ticket for that evening. Knew I shouldn’t have left it so long before going back. Who’s taking over the role? Or has it not been announced yet?
