For the record, since I mentioned it above and then went to it, Andrew B and Kyle S read beautifully at tonight's poetry gala at the Playhouse -- Burnap especially with a poem by Anne Waldman (a name new to me) www.poemhunter.com/poem/giant-night/

Looks like Inheritance fans will be getting some good news at the Critics Circle awards (zoom in on certificate)

Anyone heard anything official (or even very strong rumours) about a NYC transfer of this yet? It has to happen, right?
La Redgrave is doing a thing at the Ustinov in Bath in the summer with Robert Boulter and Paul Hilton so I guess it's not going to be imminent.

Haven't seen anything announced yet. Would Vanessa be willing to transfer with this do we think? It would be quite a commitment for her to move there even for a few months, given her advancing years.

Would she need to transfer with it? Keep the boys and then add Angela Lansbury, or someone similarly iconic?

I don't want to play the "I have loads of gay friends" card, but I feel like there is NO ONE similarly iconic when it comes to the idea of putting Angela Lansbury in a gay play.

She wouldn't necessarily need to - it was nice having the tie in with her having been in the Howard's End film though! If they wanted to stick with that link, I don't think Emma Thompson or Helena Bonham Carter are old enough to play the character

I didn't feel any need to see this ever again until it was suggested that Angela Lansbury should be cast as Margaret and now everything has changed.

Auditions for the smaller roles took place earlier this month in NYC. A November opening should be enough to keep them in the minds of the Tony voters, as Daldry and Friedman really want to clear up at the 2020 show with this.

I am going to start saving now just in case there is even an inkling that this is true, as I can actually go in Nov/Dec. (There are often 101 reasons why I can’t go or plan ahead) Christmas shopping too.

I saw The Inheritance at the Young Vic and loved it. Better than Angels, as far as I am concerned, if one must compare. Perhaps a little more akin to Love Valor Compassion.
But -- much as I liked Ms. Redgrave, I don't think she needs to come to NYC with the play. Plenty of New York actresses could do that part. I love the idea of Angela, but I actually think Chita Rivera would be good, or any number of other women.
Zoe Caldwell would be brilliant, but I don't think she's well enough.

Which of the male actors (ie the entire rest of the cast) would be likely to transfer with it? Andrew Burnap and JBH being based in the US would seem appropriate, any of the rest of them?

Kyle Soller is both real American (though settled here) and an award winner, it would be a travesty if he weren't to go.

Levine (Adam/Leo) is also American, so I guess he could also go back to playing the role - unless for marketing reasons they want to replace him with a bigger name... which would be a pity, as he was amazing!

Performances start on Broadway at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre September 27. New artwork just shared on social media - I much prefer the West End artwork I have to say! Though the video announcement they’ve shared is beautiful - just hearing that piano again is giving me goosebumps.

Will forever regret not catching this!
Do we think it could ever return? A little one at YV, even?

I'm so excited for this to come to NY after seeing it twice in London. I did have a question about the ending of part 1 though. I remember reading something somewhere (maybe even here but this thread is too long to read through) about all the men who appear at the end of part one. I recall they were understudies as well as some unpaid and volunteers and it changed out every so often. Does anyone have information on this?
I ask because American Equity will likely not allow this (at least in my mind). They're very strict about people on stages being paid equity minimum for a one minute part or a 7 hour play.

So it's only going to cost me a return flight and Broadway prices for two shows. (Apologies to those who already venture far!) I'm oh so tempted to bite the bullet, especially if this runs over the Christmas period.

Spoiler tagging this because SHOCKINGLY some people didn't see this masterpiece. {Spoiler - click to view} The published script doesn't really reflect the way it was staged in the London productions, it merely talks about how Peter West appears and suddenly "the house is filled with ghosts". It isn't written down how many there are, or how they interact with Eric. They could legitimately restage it by taking the usual cast, maybe with a few extras whom they'd have to pay, and having them come on as the ghosts. Wouldn't be as effective, but would still be a realistic way of employing less people to fulfil the same need.

How very unusual that the Broadway schedule is 5x a week Part 1 and 3x a week Part 2...

How very unusual that the Broadway schedule is 5x a week Part 1 and 3x a week Part 2... Do they predict an inevitable extension? Get loads of people to see part 1, make part 2 a scarce commodity, then when it's at fever pitch extend for six months with a more balanced schedule. I guess there's a drop-off of people who see part 1 and never book for part 2 as well.
