Charles Edwards to take the male lead in this.
But who the female lead?

I would take a punt on Helen McCrory. Anyway....I thought you said it had been fully cast since December? Do you only know one?

I really think I could watch Charles Edwards in anything. I know there's a certain element where it's a variation on the same theme but he does it so effortlessly and so brilliantly, he's so utterly charismatic on stage I think.

I can see Nicola Walker being great in the lead role. She has the right grit to my mind.

Oh jolly good, I do love me a bit of Charles Edwards, that could be my booked on a whim paying off.

The only cast members I am certain are in it are Charles (Spotlight profile) and NT regular, Lloyd Hutchinson (who tweeted about it). No idea who Lloyd will be playing, however. I found about about Charles' casting in November, and I'm rather peeved the NT still haven't announced the full cast yet.
I know it's early but I'm impatient.
Still, I'm just so bleeding happy CE is back in the UK, after he spent the whole of 2017 performing in Australia.

Not sure who we’re classing as “the male lead” in this... If it’s Hugh Mariner then Charles Edwards is a little on the old side really as Ackland states he is in his “too-late thirties”. Looking forward to learning who else is in the cast. (I can’t see Nicola Walker in this at all but we’ll see.)

It is true that 48 isn't exactly late-30s but he looks good for his age, so you know, he could carry it off. No big deal

48 is the new 30, absolutely. That's good to know, on that basis I must be back down to 20 again and can claim those under 25 tickets again!

But speaking of Entry Pass, those cheap seats for AH have all sold out, despite no cast announcement or anything. They all went only a few days after going online, too. Maybe I'm naive but I was rather taken aback.

A minor cast update: John Sackville is playing Douglas Eden. That's 3 cast members discovered before the official NT announcement (we don't mess about here), but still no Christine

I don't know the play, but looking at the cast list and previous posts here, I'd suggest Kate Fleetwood might be the lead female role:

That would seem the obvious conclusion on the basis of that tweet.
Not my idea of Christine - but we shall see

It's all hilariously typical-NT-casting. Do they ever look outside the walls? Kate Fleetwood (not sure she's got the warmth req for this role...discuss) Joanna David Jenny Galloway Lloyd Hutchinson Jonathan Slinger Danny Webb Eileen Walsh etc etc

Yeah, I didn't just pull her name out of thin air, I clearly got it from the announcement! But there are a few female names there, that's why I pulled her out as my suggestion for the *lead*.

Yes, Christine has a hard side to her - but it is her vulnerability that is the key to the success of the play.

She has to be able to move quicksilver from joy to tears. Open to seeing her crack at it though.

Bah! It took the NT long enough to announce the cast!
I hope Danny Webb is playing the slimy film producer guy, Maurice. It looks a very fun role, as far as the TV film is concerned. I'd like to say who could play Hugh's ex, Nigel, but I've no clue. It could go to Jonathan Slinger, but it's not a big role at all.
Also, if I was a betting woman, I'd wager my entire life savings Jenny Galloway will be R.B. Monody.
