Is the aisle seat on stalls D bad? I know it’s being sold as ‘restricted view’ but just how restricted are we talking here??

There is a bit of wall in front of those aisle seats - only blocks a bit of the stage but might be annoying in this case due to the layout of the pianos? You'll be better a bit further back or a few seats in. More details on @theatremonkey - www.theatremonkey.com/DUKEOFYORKbooking.htm#Th

Unfortunately I’m an idiot who felt pressured by the Todaytix deal so I already brought the D seat! Oh well, I’m sure i’ll enjoy it anyway!

Incidentally Matthew Needham has been spending an inordinate amount of time at my work lately (three times in the last week alone) that I wonder how he is finding time for anything else. Oh well. It certainly has been brightening my days up...

Charmless. I don't see what the critics who enthused about this saw in it.
Yes the stage looks very good indeed. Yes Patsy Ferran gives a very good performance in a not very interesting role, but this must have a real bang down to earth following "A Streetcar Named Desire" when it was first staged. The doubling here is very confusing and the play itself is not very interesting with an unnecessary coda at the end. What's with the no shoes? Austerity?
Odd night all round. There were a handful of tickets on offer when I bought mine today and yet there were 30/40 empty seats in the stalls alone. People kept getting up and leaving then returning as if we were in a rock arena, not the least of whom were the ushers on the right hand side of the theatre who, alone, exited and re-entered seven times during the performance.

Saw this last night and I thought it was decent. I too think it’s been a little overhyped by the critics in regards to the storyline etc, but they absolutely spot-on about Patsy. She was so so great. In a narrative that left me rather bored & even irritated by the characters, she was pretty much the only thing that kept me interested.
Tbf, I really liked the staging too, and the pianos were used to great effect; really did add to the scene.

I saw it at the Almeida last March and liked it well enough but agree that it was overhyped. I thought Ms. Ferran was just ok but was impressed with Needham's performance.

It's mind-boggling to me that the lead was played by Rosamund Pike in London before, just a totally different play with someone that good-looking.
Thought the age difference or certainly the visual age difference (Needham looking about 30, Ferran about 20) was slightly strange here.
But overall a very good production of a not major Williams play.
