Just got an email saying the front row £15 lottery starts today.....
Didn't we get all the front row £15 tickets?! Do you think we are NOT gonna be on the actual front row?!?

Maybe they held a few seats back in the front row? I can't remember if the whole row was available when I booked, but if seats were "gone" I would have figured someone already booked them.
Or they realized that once the stage was put in, there'd be space to squish an additional row in, in which case I think it's good news if "our" front row is second row now - less neck-craning.
Ooooor (I love this intrigueing idea) - the front row had never been meant to go on regular sale and should have been held back for the lottery, but a fluke in the system put them on sale and now they have a problem.

Deffo the day I go (1/12) the whole row was on sale.
This makes us all second row plebs now!
I like sitting on the first row coz if I ever throw up I can do it on the stage. I've always wondered how people would react

I've had a poke around the website just now and I'm admittedly rather pleased to see that there's a big lump of overpriced premium seats left unsold for each performance this week while virtually everything else is sold out. Will it help to wake up producers to the fact that there's a limit of what people are willing to pay for a show?
Possibly they'll flog the left-over premium seats through the lottery instead of the front row, would be embarrassing to have these empty rows in the prime area of the theatre.

I don't QUITE agree that virtually everything else is sold out. The matinee tomorrow looks half empty! It's always a terrible idea to have a midweek matinee so early in the run, but I suppose I thought it's half term, so they should try and capitalise.
I just checked, I have row A tickets, the seating plan on the website still shows row A as the front row. So either they're not bothering to build the row of seats in front of A as it's always going to be via TodayTix, or they decided on the front row lottery after we'd all bought them and swept up what was left for TodayTix.

I must admit that I'm always shocked when I see a show with seats above £100, and this was no different. I'm seeing this with 3 friends and our tickets cost £60 total (they're front row, or row A at least given we don't know what's going on with the front row now) and may be not that fantastic, but they're afordable at least. Same goes for the next couple of price bands I suppose. But had we all bought the premium seats it'd set us back £600!! For two hours?! I apreciate that some people are more well off than others but who wants to splash £600 in 2 hours?! Silly really.
That said, I do think once press night rolls round and it gets more publicity in the national press etc. I'm sure sales of these expensive tickets will picked up. I sold the idea of this show to 2 friends based on Bowie's name, and my sister wanted to see it because Michael C Hall who she knew from Dexter was in it.
Plus, didn't this sell out in America, with people reselling tickets for $2000 or something?!

And even then, the re-selling at mental prices only started after Bowie died. The reviews and initial word of mouth were mixed. Still, I love Michael C Hall, so I'm up for seeing this.
And we can all calm down. Row A is still the front row, TodayTix do not have an extra row being built for them, my other guess was the right one.

Unsold premium seats is fine for them. The idea is you see a £150 premium seat and then think that the £60 you actually pay for a top price seat is fine. They can then later discount any unsold premium seats.

I always thought the idea of premium seats was so that if you rock up at the last minute with plenty of cash to spare, instead of paying a tout double the face value for a ticket you pay the theatre double the (usual) face value for it.

I find that a lot of people I talk to think that seats can't be good unless you're paying through the nose for them, so they'll sniff at anything below £40-50, which is ridiculous of course, because we all know that you can nearly always find a bargain. But then, that's exactly the sort of mindset people are getting when they see that the best seats in the house cost over £100! Occasional theatregoers must wonder how a £30 seat could possibly compare? |

A lot of theatres will drop the price of premium seats when the time of the show draws closer. If they sell them for £150 in advance, brilliant, if they sell them for £60 on the day, that's £60 better than not selling them at all.

The soundtrack cd features the three new songs in the show and on the second CD the three songs performed by Mr Bowie himself.

Just seen this from one of those £15 seats- probably one of the best £15 seats I've ever sat in! No neck craning and it's a brilliant view. It's very close and quite intense at times sat there but I really excellent way to experience the show I think.
