I actually never got that part in the Broadway revival where they pulled apart. Though they are actually physically separate in their heads they still remain with each other in heart?

If I were Louise Dearman and Laura Pitt-Pulford I would be on the phone to my agent demanding much better work to match my talent. Both ladies are lovely with delightful voices (although they absolutely don't convince as twins) but the show is insipid, dreary, overlong, emotionally vacant and poorly directed.
If you're sat on either side of the auditorium, you'll at least get to see the safety pins holding the twins' dresses together because but the show is played pretty much front and centre.
Word of warning if you booked your ticket prior to the theatre changing the system for you to be able book your own seat they will allocate you a seat. It may be a really dreadful seat so insist, INSIST, that you're given a seat in the centre set of seat facing the set head on. Don't let them palm you off with anything else.

That's strange about the seating as I am sure it was reserved seating from the day tickets went on sale which is when I bought mine. Unless there was some sort of priority booking scheme.

Wait, the twins are pinned together? I thought they just stood next to each other which gives the illusion of them being conjoined.

Oh dear. It's all sounding a bit "whoahhh". Glad I didn't build a weekend in London around this.

Wait, the twins are pinned together? I thought they just stood next to each other which gives the illusion of them being conjoined. No, it's a nice big ole safety pin. They do struggle to get their fur coats on sometimes, which is fun. {Spoiler - click to view} There is a bit where they separate though and Louise goes for a bit of a walk around the set. Oh dear. It's all sounding a bit "whoahhh". Glad I didn't build a weekend in London around this. Not necessarily. There were lots of people standing up and it was pretty full so lots of people really liked it.

I want people sobbing hysterically and falling to their knees with gratitude before I splash out on a TravelInn!

I was nearly sobbing hysterically when I saw some of the prices in the new food market over the road, if that helps?

I am thinking of going to see the show on Monday. Still tickets availible and I love Louise and the score so, so much I think I will enjoy it! I find the score massively underrated actually, especially I Will Never Leave You which is amazimg!

What is this about the seats? I booked specific seats for this one in the front centre section, does this mean they could put someone in my seat I booked the week tickets went on sale?

It's all allocated seating, it just looks like they select a "best available" seat for you now on the booking system rather than us beimg able to click on the specific seat you want.

Wait, the twins are pinned together? I thought they just stood next to each other which gives the illusion of them being conjoined. In the OBC that was the case, but not in the revival (I guess the tradition carries on!). It's probably velcro and not pins, but whatever.

it's definitely safety pins, they're still on view during the show.
I saw this for the second time tonight. Since they are now a cast member down, some of the show has been restaged and little bits have changed since the first preview. It was much better than it was. I still think it's a great show, with a great score that is sung beautifully by the leads, but the production could be better. Its not staged particularly well for the space. If you're on the sides the sightlines aren't good, mostly seeing the backs of the cast. Also there's alot of business with wooden boxes that makes it seem a bit frantic.
Towards the end, there's a scene that involves the chorus being Texan townfolk, but it SO busy with ropes, lasso's and stetsons,It's too cliched and TOTALLY distracts from what the main characters are singing about. It's an important part of the show and really doesnt need any of the other stuff. The costumes are better than they were, but you can still see the girls' underwear sewn together, regardless of how many pins or bows they put on to try and hide them. Thankfully Jake's has a new jacket, one that isnt fitted with pins. basically the costumes are cheap. Which is a shame because I love the show itself, I just wish it's London premier was better.
As much as i might moan about small things (i'm a virgo and a perfectionist and maybe a little too opinionated!) i would definitely recommend it. The leads are all fantastic, though for me Laura Pitt-Pulfordas Violet gives the performance of the night.

That was the big moment I cried at.

Violet has the better story and she makes every moment count. A wonderful, emotional performance.

Got to see the show last night (Monday) and sat in row B facing the stage. Mind you I did book the day tickets went on sale. I enjoyed it and had a great night out but I was not blown away by it. I thought I knew the score, well it appears I know the original version and the 2014 version is very different with lots of music that I did not recognise. By music alone I much prefer the original version. Strong performances especially by the 2 girls who I thought sang beautifully. Dragged slightly in parts and as others have said book a bit of a mess. I have to say I did not notice any safety pins or wardrobe malfunctions but I probably wasn't looking that closely enough. A plus point was that the sound was good. Practically every show I have seen in previews at Southwark has had sound issues but they seemed to have got it right from early on. One moan though is that fact they allow people to take glasses and bottles into the theatre and, as always, several were knocked over during the quieter moments of the show. The answer is plastic glasses and no bottles which is a policy in many small theatres use but maybe its down to cost as the plastic can only be used once. I'll give it 3.5 out of 5

In the OBC that was the case, but not in the revival (I guess the tradition carries on!). It's probably velcro and not pins, but whatever. Yes, Ripley and Skinner started on opposite sides of the stage, walked into the middle, stood next to each other, held hands, and that was it. The revival they were joined with magnets in their costumes, I think. They pulled apart during "I Will Never Leave You" and then re-joined at the end of the number. The use of safety pins to do that here means that a) it must look cheap and awful and b) they can't re-create that same moment without ripping a lot of fabric.

So I took a group of 14 to see this last night. 3 adored it but most came out saying sure it was nice, but not the best. (By the way I totally agree about the glasses being knocked over at quiet moments).
The girls are sensational. 10/10. Laura's acting and journey is a masterclass in musical theatre and Louise's voice as we all know is to die for. Their duets were both the highlights of the evening.
Now for the problems. The staging. This should not be staged in the round the audience on the right hand side (far wall) misses so many scenes and we never really got to see Louise only Laura. It worked with Xanadu, Carrie and Dogfight but not this.
Secondly the four male leads were all miss cast. Terry and Buddy just weren't good enough and good amatuers to say the least. They just were not up to the standard of the girls (and it wasn't about the parts they have). Jake a badly written role was played by a guy with the most gorgeous voice, but the worst stage presence, physicality, posture and acting I've ever seen at the SP. I also didn't like the Side Show owner guy. They didn't match the professional clean cut chic performances from the girls and all four males would never have the roles if cast on the West End. Such a shame... The creatives really missed the mark on all of them.
The ensemble are great, obvious they were one down but they are very energetic and do great work with what they have. The choreography is wonderful and the group numbers staged very well.
I had goosebumps about 15 times which is a wonderful note that the show was stirring something. The music is glorious while the book is clunky but for 15 pounds a wonderful night at the theatre. It's worth seeing for the girls alone and the finale two scenes. Oh and yes some of the costumes and wigs are just awful....
7/10 for me.

Seeing this tonight am in Row D, centre block, I think (hope.) I booked a lifetime ago, so can't remember.
Apologies if this has been asked many times before, but can anyone recommend a quick, inexpensive place nearby to grab a bite before the show?

What about the last few seats of the side blocks? Would they be an okay option because i can't get any central block tickets at all for the dates that i can go. I figured that the last few seats on the end might be near enough the centre block to be able to see the stage/show fairly head on?
