Agreed with Wendy. I was underwhelmed by the ending of the finale and Who Will Love Me As I Am.

I was slightly underwhel ed with the end of I Will Never Leave You, but I liked thst the end of Who Will Love Me had them stop singing, looking wt eachother and then walking out slowly as the music goes to just the band. Sure, it isn't a huge finish, but I thought it was alot of effective.  |

Saw this last night after booking back in March. I went in cold so have no opinion on any changes since the original Broadway production.
I LOVED it. I can see that some of the lyrics aren't the best, and the musical has flaws - I don't think I'd want to see a weaker production - but thought Laura and Louise were fantastic and really made it a brilliant trip. I felt very emotional at the end of Act One in particular. Really glad I got to see it. I haven't enjoyed a musical so much in ages. How is the Southwark Playhouse not better known?!

I will probably be (virtually) excommunicated for saying this, but having also booked months ago but long since lost my enthusiasm, and having recently played the 2 clips posted above and felt even more discouraged, I lost my nerve totally and didn't even bother attending. I have been disappointed once too often by lacklustre, samey musicals at Southwark Playhouse and whilst it's too late to avoid the risk for Promises, Promises (since I've already booked for that, too), I need to give them an indefinite rest. My loss if I missed something I'd have loved in the event, but call it the triumph of experience over hope.

The Southwark Playhouse is the best theatre that has developed in the past five years. I'm a number one fan and would go there over any West End show. |

Don't forget The Toxic Avenger, Allegro, Bat Boy, Carrie, Grand Hotel, Xanadu... It is one of the most diverse venues for musicals going I would have thought. Do remember that Southwark is mostly a receiving house, and all the shows listed have been produced by external companies that have hired Southwark (Danielle Tarento, Paul Taylor Mills (with Bill Kenwright), Katie Lipson). |

You can't make up your mind about a show from a couple of audios. I saw the show and enjoyed it. Not that I could see much... (side on restricted view seat) but not a bad afternoon in the theatre at all. The staff were so lovely too. I like this venue and would definately return. |

I'd managed to mix up some dates & ended up with 3 days running of theatre booked in London. As I don't live in London something had to give & this was it. I was also very worried when a Cannibal King was mentioned as being one of the freaks as of all the things I am squeamish about cannibalism is the worst so I didn't want to see that. |

I have to say that (echoing many posters on here) this definitely is a show which benefits from being watched from the seats that are front on to the stage. This time I could see Violet a lot more clearly and hence I totally 'got' her character a lot more than previously. On my first visit we sat on the side of the entrance, so mostly saw Louise/Daisy. I only feel for those viewing from the opposite side, as hardly any of the performances are played that way.
It still has some hole in it, there were a couple of tech issues again tonight, but overall I still found it to be an enjoyable evening.

Saw the final performance last night. What a difference it made sitting straight on watching the show. I actually understood some of the story more and think the actors had all settled into their roles which of course would happen anyway.
The girls Laura and Louise were simply sensational. Another standing ovation mid show after the end of act one for Who Will Love Me
As I am. I was so happy to watch it again.
Like Carrie I'm not sure Paul Taylor Mills will have a life for it after Southwark but congrats to everyone for producing in my mind is a success of a Broadway two times flop show.
Bring on Promises Promises, The Life and Working and I hope someone reading this does Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Aida, Scarlet Pimpernel, Baby or Metropolis.

Saw the last performance and was blown away by the acting and score. his was one of 3 shows we saw over the weekend, the others being Lazarus and Dreamgirls. Sideshow was by far my favourite. Louise and Laura were superb and the ensemble cast really hit the spot.
