I had SO MUCH FUN seeing this again, and I'm so glad I went to both shows as it was just as good second time round. I thought Grace Mouat was fab as Cathy P too. OH I just love this show! I was in the slightly raised seat tier for the evening, which was an excellent view for the dancing, and meant I did actually record the final song, which I wasn't going to. Not sure I can add video on here, but it's on my Twitter if you're interested. Any plans for a return visit when it comes back to Salford?

It's one of the most fun things I think I've seen (along with perhaps Nell Gwynn and the Crucible Annie Get Your Gun). The cast are just so enthusiastic and energetic, and seem to be having such a ball. It came across as very fresh and natural as well.

Heart Of Stone is definitely my favourite song from the CD and a real earworm. An odd phrase, though, unless it's intended to mean that Jane Seymour's love for her son was enduring, as her heart is clearly anything but stone-like.
Actually, I always think of that ballad as "Unbreakable" and I think that would have made more sense as a title.

A heart of stone is usually portrayed as a negative thing, cold and hard etc. But it's turned around to point out that it's a survival mechanism to mean that it outlasts everything else and withstands all the crap thrown at it.

With @elanor and david at Six and then david and Phantom of London almost crossing paths at The Producers, we could have had a Theatre Board North meet up yesterday..!

Indeed, that was the only way I too could interpret it, but I think anyone hearing the title alone would assume it was about someone cold-hearted. Still, the show is a success and the music is a large part of that, so we're all happy anyway.

Pretty sure I would’ve crossed paths with you yesterday, drunkenly traipsing Manc with 11 of my wifes uni friends. Was forced onto the outskirts of the Xmas market at one point (shudders).

So all the girls get alternates! Specific dates or is it more a Wicked/standby situation? Whilst I'm over the whole alternate thing for every role under the sun, at least that means you are likely to get all the girls unless under extreme circumstances.

I would presume this'll now allow the cast to book some holidays etc, and it must be nice for them to alleviate a bit of stress when one person is already off sick! Other than that I imagine it'll be a usual standby sitch.

Do we think she got first choice over what two roles she gets to cover?

There was a situation recently where Grace was on for Cathy P, but Alexia had a back injury. Alexia still went on but had to sit down for the whole show. I think it’s good they’ve added additional alternates/standbys as it takes pressure not only off Grace but the other girls who may be fighting illnesses to ensure the show goes on if Grace is already swung on.
I think Alexia particularly will benefit as she’s a working parent. It’ll mean she gets to spend more time with her child if they are allowed to book specific shows off this contract.

A casting call went out for understudies around November saying that each girl would be needed to cover at least 4 queens so it wouldn’t surprise me if the new alternates will also cover a few extra as well

Please forgive my ignorance if this is a stupid questions, but are there also understudies for the band? Band members have deps, short for deputised I guess. The band will change line up a lot more as they take other gigs to keep life interesting and having a dep play for a week etc. Same for the technical team.

I see. Many thanks.
A completely different scale, of course, but when I was at 42nd Street just last week, I thought the percussionist looked different (and much younger) to the one I'd seen just a month previously, playing the bells with a spanner!

Enjoyed this interview with Lucy Moss, filmed at The Lowry.

Please forgive my ignorance if this is a stupid questions, but are there also understudies for the band? Yeah. I saw West Side Story last month and it was great to see they had listed every cover and alternate for every instrument in the programme! I found it very surprising.

Yes. My question about US or UK cast was posted before it was announced Chicago would be a new cast.
My daughter was hoping to see some of the current Queens (she really like Millie and Natalie). So, she told me that we still have to take her to London and not just Chicago. She is very obsessed with the show and has watched - I don't know how many - videos of the megamix (youtube and instagram) and has thoughts on every actor and swing that she has seen. She has spread the word through her high school.
