I echo theatremonkey's sentiments. There's nothing wrong with Bradford or Sunderland. Southend however... Tehe.

It’s anywhere ending in D that’s an issue, so that’s all the ‘wood, ‘ford, ‘end, ‘coed (one for our dissolved cousins), ‘ard (for the skirt people).
Just replace the D with Z and we can all celebrate being a little more European.

May I remind you that Hemel Hempstead ends in d! Well I'm sure the people who live there are happy in their homes. (If they ever manage to get off That Roundabout.)

Has that been corroborated by a random sample of folk from ‘d’ settlements?

Those who book a show on the back of a Will Gompertz recommendation should take a long hard look at themselves - after a not so long look at him FFs 😂

It's very impressive! Most performance only have a scattering of seats available including the restricted view grand circle ones which weren't initially on sale.

This doesn't surprise me as it has huge popular appeal. Friends of mine who almost NEVER go to the theatre astonished me the other evening when they said they had already seen it and loved it. It does not appeal to me at all! As they rarely go to the theatre they don't mind forking out £100 plus a ticket as its once a year (if that). I spend much more per annum seeing many shows and simply wont pay that sort of money.
The success of it is that it has hugely popular characters that the audience love and are invested in over a long period of time from the TV.
The same applies to the hugely successful tour of the comedy show Benidorm - which is doing tremendous business on tour. The characters are loved.
It is show BUSINESS after all!

I would gladly have invested money in both OFAH and Benidorm being very successful. Can't wait to see them both again. Club Tropicana too.
However I would equally have taken a punt on Dr.Dolittle....
I usually love the shows the critics hate but I am sometimes underwhelmed by the critically acclaimed.

Interval of the show now.
Some of the worst audience members I have every experienced. Changing seats, on phones and generally being extremely rude. The FOH team don’t bother to intervene at all and ruines the show.
Same 4 chords in every song
This will be gone in the next few months, won’t survive in the West End. A UK Tour prior to a West End engagement would have suited this type of show much better.

A little info on this: the show has already taken well in excess of the reported 8 million in advance sales, and is pretty booked up well into the run. I think it will be fine!

The night I went, there was a bellend who turned up wearing a sheepskin coat and a flat cap, carrying an old school late 80s mobile phone and then stood staring at everyone like he was the funniest thing EVER (and looked like he would punch your lights out if you didn’t think so)but apart from that, the audience seemed a pretty agreeable bunch.

I hope it doesn't turn into a cosplay thing. (Although it would be funny if hundreds of people turned up dressed exactly the same way and then all stood around embarrassed at their lack of originality.)
