I rather enjoyed her as Nina in The Seagull at Southwark Playhouse (pre-Elephant and Castle days) in an adaptation by Anya Reiss which moved the setting to the Isle of Wight.

One of my favourite films, the casting is simply divine!
Cate Blanchett would have been nice, I suspect she would have played Margo
with a similar grandeur to how she played the stepmother in Cinderella.
But Gillian Anderson is also great!

Any ideas when tickets for this will be on sale? Lily James has impressed me more recently so I'd be intrigued to see her do straight drama (as I haven't previously seen her stage work), and I loved Gillian Anderson in Streetcar at the Young Vic a few years ago.

I came to this board to get info on this production and was saddened to read the posts. I had to respond. Why do so many people hate, disrespect the art of theatre now. Anderson is a fantastic actresss just because she’s not ‘Hollywood’ doesn’t in any way diminish her or this production.
Love theatre not celebrity culture.

Welcome to the board @mylifeindrama. People on here actually love theatre, and many are actually practitioners of the art. Many contributors are also pretty witty, too, though, and the whole board is shot through with British sarcasm - edgy but actually meaningless beyond amusing. There aren’t many actors around these days who are a match for Bette D. She was amazing in that film, so feisty and beautiful. You imagine she wasn’t too different to the character she played. We’ve all got so soft; the only women I’d Like to see in the role are now too old for it - Mirren, Dench. I’d love to see Rupert Everett in the role of the critic. Anyone know about the rest of the cast? I suppose the cast will be diverse - actually, it would have been interesting to cast Eve black or Asian.

Oooh fabulous cast. I'd hazard a guess that 'Benidorm' legend Sheila Reid will play Birdie (Margo's maid), Monica Dolan will play Karen (Margo's best friend) and Rhashan Stone will play Bill (Margo's boyfriend). If they're following the movie of course.

I rather like the photo myself, it sums up the story really quite brilliantly. La Anderson (older but looking utterly gorgeous) looking over her shoulder at Lily James (Eve, much younger) who is looking like she's about to pounce.
Unless they mess around with it completely, that is the story in one photo.
