And booking for groups until June 2019. Is that the furthest ahead for any show at the moment? I thought the hype had kinda died down now. Its just kind of, there.

It is one of those shows with an international market. By opening group booking that far ahead, it means tour operators in particular can incorporate the show into the brochures that are being finalised right now. Simple excellent marketing sense. I wouldn't be shocked if it runs into 2020, it's interesting that Aladdin may outrun both Mary Poppins and Beauty and the Beauty in the West End. |

I really like the show, it’s just the casting of Jade Ewan and, formerly, Dean John Wilson that put me off. I’m waiting with a return visit until they got a new Jasmine, one that can actually sing. |

Aladdin (like The Lion King and Matilda) taps into that hugely lucrative family ticket market. A show that can benefit from dynamic pricing during school holidays and weekends. There aren't many such shows in the West End - I've already named them. Plus of course the Disney brand! Like the Lion King it could run and run - well until Frozen comes over.

Aladdin, to me, does not look like a West End musical. It looks like a very good pantomime. I mean, it's probably a great show but I definitely wouldn't pay for expensive seats in the stalls. But as long as sales and reviews are good, I guess anything goes.

I'm very certain that one of the Disney shows will go when Frozen roars into London. Definitely not Lion King though. It's up there with Les Mis, Phantom, Wicked and Mamma Mia as the "tourist" musicals. (ones that are easily recognisable and have adverts everywhere on the tube)

I went to see it at the end of last year, and I wasn’t expecting to like it but...it’s really, really great family entertainment. My daughter is the wriggliest child alive and she sat stock still and silent for the whole thing, eyes on stalks.
The guy who plays the Genie gives it his all and is the highlight of the show. I can’t imagine it without that actor.
Costumes and sets are lavish.
I think we had an understudy for Aladdin, who was really good, probably the whitest teeth I have ever seen. I rated Jasmine much lower, I would go and see it again if they recast her.
It is more pantomime than theatre, but I defy anyone not to love the magic carpet.

seen it twice now.have to say its energetically performed by all ,but it is not really a great show.Lavish but empty at times.

I felt lucky to get some great day seats for Saturday evening (Row B Dress Circle) for £20 per ticket. However.... Whilst this show is easy on the eye, I was utterly bored by it, as were my two children. Perhaps expectations were too high after seeing the brilliant "School of Rock" matinee earlier in the day, but Aladdin just left us all empty. The genie character is obviously the highlight, and the actor delivers the part well, but even he can't hold this clumsy over-Disney'd show together. Any production that relies on confetti guns, ribbon shooters, indoor fireworks to trigger an audience response is probably aware that it doesn't have much else going for it. This production made the plot for the aforementioned "School of Rock" feel like Hamlet by comparison. That said, the audience seemed to like it well enough - it is tabloid theatre, and doesn't try to hide it.

aladdinseatview.com/ at your service. The official website for the show, by Disney. It's a fine view, a lot of steps to get to it, though. Thats epic! More shows/theatres should do this. Maybe average it out, broken down into section, so not every single seat, but still. |
