I’ve ended up watching them all and From Russia With Gloves tonight was my favourite so far. Quite wonderfully mad and nonsensical, and slightly wrong. I just wish the more ‘adult’ bits weren’t curtailed quite so quickly. Lol same. I wanted to see the koala at customs seen. It looked as if it would have been incredibly entertaining. |

Harry Kershaw steals the show every night - Giles was hilarious, especially his one man conga - and him forgetting his name again, leading to Jonathan having his rant was hilarious. It really cracked me up that Harry's first line tonight was getting his name wrong lmao. The first thing he said lol. For me, the ginger guy cracks me up every night. I don't know his name (sorry!), but he's always delivering the bonkers and innuendo-like things. When he said "I'll get you your gun", he literally coughed it up and pulled it out of his throat. It wasn't acknowledged but I was literally like wtf and wetting myself. He's so funny! Carried the show last night too. |

For me, the ginger guy cracks me up every night. I don't know his name (sorry!), but he's always delivering the bonkers and innuendo-like things. When he said "I'll get you your gun", he literally coughed it up and pulled it out of his throat. It wasn't acknowledged but I was literally like wtf and wetting myself. He's so funny! Carried the show last night too. Do you mean Josh Elliott? I wouldn't say he's ginger but he's probably the one people are least likely to know the name of, as he only does the improv shows with Mischief. |

I wouldn't say I necessarily enjoy MMNs more than the stage plays but I do enjoy them more than the TV shows. I'd be very happy if Mischief kept on streaming MMNs rather than doing a second series of The Goes Wrong Show. Not that that's going to happen. |

Perhaps counterintuitively, there's definitely the element of improvisation that is funnier on MMNs than the predictability of The Goes Wrong Show, especially amongst people that know the jokes rather well. It's funny people doing funny and unpredicatble bizarre things. 'Tis great. Do you happen to know the origins of MMNs in contrast to Showstopper? I'm curious which came first as they appear to be very similar. |

I'm curious which came first as they appear to be very similar. Both at around the same time, 2008, actually! Unfortunately when Mischief re-vamped their website a couple of years ago a whole lot of info about their early origins vanished but if you have any Mischief programmes from the last few years then somewhere near the back there'll be a short history of the company in cartoon form. Mischief Movie Night was re-named that for the run they did at the Arts Theatre Dec 2017-Jan 2018. Prior to that it was called Lights! Camera! Improvise! and I believe at the very start it had yet another name. However apart from a change of name & colour scheme (the colours for costumes & props used to be yellow & black) the show has stayed pretty similar - at least since I first saw in it December 2014, I can't speak for before then. As for the somewhat similar style between MMN & Showstopper, I would ascribe that to Adam Meggido, who was one of the founders of Showstopper & still appears in it and who taught most if not all of the Mischief group improv at LAMDA plus directing PPGW & MGW for them. There's also been a bit of actor crossover between the 2 shows with Matt Cavendish having appeared in L!C!I! plus the first 3 Mischief scripted shows then joining Showstopper while Showstopper regulars Ruth Bratt & now Lauren Shearing have been drafted in for MMN when they've evidently been a bit short of women. |

It is rather disconcerting when someone you're used to seeing with one company suddenly appears with the other one! I think one of the biggest surprises I've ever had in a theatre was when I went to Milton Keynes to see Showstoppers in October 2017. For those who haven't seen Showstopper, there's no announcement of the cast beforehand. So first scene, some of the usual suspects enter then one man who I didn't immediately recognise. Suddenly I realised it was Matt Cavendish, last heard of in New York with the original cast of TPTGW. I certainly did not expect to see him in Milton Keynes with a different improv group! |

I don't know if he was exaggerating but Jonathan Sayer said there were 8,000 people watching tonight, from a purely financial perspective these must be so lucrative I would be surprised if they didn't announce a new season soon!

Brilliant show tonight.
New season starting 23rd January and running 10 shows through 14 Febuary.
Tickets available now and seem to be priced the same. Most performances 7:30pm, although there is one 3:30pm performance and one 11:30pm performance (okay?).
Looking forward to the next run!

The website says the 11.30 show is with a view to attracting a more international audience for whom that time is more convenient. I will still book for that, the other 9 shows as they have been joyous, and just the greatest way to end a miserable year.

I wonder if for the 11:30 show they will be allowed to be more risqué. Not that they ever go into the realm of adult comedy but I do feel the insistence on stopping bits that are even vaguely rude does curtail the comedy a bit

After posting I couldn’t book tonight’s, I pressed refresh one final time and the streaming pass came up that time. Missed most of the preamble, but joined the stream where Bryony and Dave are looking at Twitter, so still got to enjoy the “movie.”
So happy they’re doing more.

What a great way to end the year with the last Mischief movie night of the week. The whole week has been a joy to watch and provided some much-needed comedy, and it is great news that they are bringing MMN back in the new year. For me, Harry Kershaw has been the star of the week for me. From his lonely Conga dance and his inability to remember character names each night. It's also been nice to see other cast members perform such as Joshua Elliott who I haven't seen before.
As a piece of streamed theatre, I thought it worked really well watching it at home and after the first night I think they got the audience participation segment cracked and worked well in each night.
I'm off to get my tickets for the next lot of shows!

I'm still not sure I entirely agree with charging an extra fiver to sit on Zoom completely muted for an hour, although you do get to have a chat with Jonathan Sayer an hour before which is nice, he's a lovely bloke.

Harry Kershaw, Henry Lewis and Joshua Elliot made me laugh the most through the week, but hats off to all of them - the skill it must take to come up with ideas on the spot is so impressive. Likewise, the 2 musicians who improvise the music are so talented.
If 8000 people were indeed watching this evening - they made £80000 for one showing. It is no shock that it is back for another 10 shows!
