Would a show announce its Edinburgh fringe participation less than a month beforehand? That feels like rather short notice to me, but then I've never been to the Edinburgh fringe so I don't know what is normal for it.

There are still shows being added to the Fringe website every day so it's eminently possible. |

I don't think it is the Fringe because they would miss out on the main paper brochure including the venues own brochure. Last time they played the pleasance and their brochure is already printed and available. Also last time they had two other new Mischief backed shows up there at the same time as well which I suspect movie night was helping to support. |

Pleasance, Underbelly and Assembly shows are among those still being added to the Fringe website. I think the brochure is kind of irrelevant for Mischief. It's not like they'd be playing to empty rooms if they announced it on Wednesday. It might not be the Fringe but it's clearly something happening at short notice and not just a one night event given the reference to "a summer of laughter". |

Mischief Movie Night features Mischief original cast members and regulars including: Henry Shields as Need to Check, Harry Kershaw as Couldn’t Tell You, Bry Corrigan as TBC, Niall Ransome as Guess Who? Henry Lewis as Not Sure, Rhyanna Alexander Davies as Don’t Know Yet, Lauren Shearing as We’ll Never Know, Susan Harrison as I Suppose We’ll Find Out, Charlie Russell as Who Knows? Jonathan Burke as Wait and See, Ellie Morris as Surely Not Now, Nancy Zammitt as It’s a Slam Dunk Matt Cavendish as Time, Gentlemen Please, Ruth Bratt as Look Who’s Talking and Josh Elliott as No Idea. They will be joined by musician Richard Baker.

I'm excited to see Ruth Bratt joining this run, I've seen her improvising with other groups but never with Mischief! (I believe she did some of the Arts run when Bryony broke her wrist - someone can doubtless confirm - but I didn't see those shows) I think she will fit so well with them. Also thrilled that Josh is going to be there to bring the absolutely unhinged vibes haha  |

I'm completely baffled by the performance schedule on The Other Palace's website. There seem to only be shows on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays. I'm also very disappointed that unlike in previous runs there are no two show days. Considering it takes me about 2 hours to get to The Other Palace it's very hard to justify 4 hours of travelling for a single 1 hour show. I suppose I've got 2 days to think about it before public booking opens.
I'm excited to see Ruth Bratt joining this run, I've seen her improvising with other groups but never with Mischief! (I believe she did some of the Arts run when Bryony broke her wrist - someone can doubtless confirm - but I didn't see those shows) I think she will fit so well with them. Ruth did 5 performances over 2 days during the Arts Theatre run. I seem to remember it was because someone, possibly Charlie, was either ill or had some prior committment & because of Bryony being injured at the very start of they run they didn't have a spare person to rotate in as had been the intention. Later in the run Laura Kirmin also did a single performance. Ruth's shows certainly featured an increase in both the number & quality of songs!

It seems to be filling around their main summer show, Fantastically Great Women Who Changed Their World. So no Saturday because that has an evening performance and no matinees. Could make an interesting double bill though! |

I'm afraid a title like that makes me want to run a mile so I certainly wouldn't want to see that in the same day as MMN. |

It's doing matinees and 4pm shows, it's for the kids. Edit: also evenings on the days Mischief aren't in. Quite clever sticking Mischief in for a later adult crowd.

I guess it's like the West End theatres who stick something for kids in during the day in the summer holidays, only this time they've done it the other way round.

When they did a short tour of this pre Covid they were also working up a new show (Magic goes wrong I think) and they did small tryouts of bits of that as a free second half. So I wonder if they have got the gang back together as they are working something up and will be rehearsing/workshoping during the day with or without previews in the evening?

It's not cheap, but it's still value (in my opinion) cos you're getting the core Mischief Trio of Henry Lewis, Henry Shields and Jonathan Sayer, and they are wonderful. I just realised I've been seeing them play together since 2013, when I saw "The Play that Goes Wrong" in Trafalgar 2 and thought it was one of the funniest hours I ever saw (it was only an hour back then, but good value even then). 11 years ago. A seventh of a lifetime (for the lucky)! It seems like yesterday. Time flies so fast lol! :0 |

I'll be honest, I hadn't clocked it was an hour when I booked. But I'm local and I'd really like to see the original team. It's cheaper per minute than when I went to see Six! |

I was told at the time of the 2018 tour that the Magic Goes Wrong previews were done at certain theatre because they wanted to have an interval and a second act (perhaps bar sales?). As this run is only at a single theatre I imagine that won't be the case this time. That is true. I suppose I'm coming at it as someone who would be travelling from outside London. Same here. I think £25 is a reasonable price considering some shows charge up to 10 times that for a show about 2 and a half times the length. However it's more of an issue that I'll have to spend as much again on train & tube fare to get there. Given it sounds like almost everyone other than me has priority booking for The Other Palace maybe I won't even have to make a decision if it's sold out before the time public booking opens on Friday! |

The MISCHIEF25 code gives you priority booking too. At least I don't have The Other Palace priority booking but it offered the option to stick a code in so I did that and it let me book. I am signed up to Mischief emails which is where I got the code from.

Just looking at tickets for this and the £25 are either front row or really really really far back. What are the chances of being picked on if you are in the front row? I wouldn’t book front row for stand up, but I think improv might be ok?

In terms of the £25 tickets any seat is £25 if you use the MISCHIEF25 code, but it doesn't discount it until you get all the way into the basket. No clue on the chances of being picked on for Movie Night though.

Now I’ve only seen it properly twice (as opposed to the streaming runs) but I don’t think they do pick on people with this. There’s a bit of preamble at the beginning where they explain the concept then ask people to shout out suggestions for genre, title, etc. But that’s entirely up to you. After that they just get on with it telling a story.
