Cast for the upcoming run of Mischief Movie Night In:
Mike Bodie, Joshua Elliott, Dave Hearn, Harry Kershaw, Henry Lewis, Niall Ransome, Charlie Russell, Jonathan Sayer, Lauren Shearing, Henry Shields and Nancy Zamit.
Musicians: Richard Baker, Yshani Perinpanayagam and Ed Zanders
As far as I can see, we've gained Charlie and Ed but lost Bryony and Ellie from the last run.

I doubt they'd be socially distancing for end of August realistically. Or at least the moment restrictions are lifted they'll release all seats even if right now they're selling socially distanced only. |

I'm thinking in terms of booking, that if it is being sold in a socially-distanced format like last year then booking a single seat will be very difficult & I might need to fork out for priority booking. Whereas if all the seats are on sale then booking a single will be easier & I might wait until public booking opens. |

It’s being sold @ 50 percent so more availability than last year as every row is in use . I just had a quick look and there’s about 25 single seats left for both the shows

Public booking has just opened. Very pleased to find a single seat available front row of the centre block, so I promptly snaffled it for both performances. Now I have to hope that the state of the Indian variant & my mother's health both allow me to actually attend at the end of August.

Completely forgot that the new season of MMN starts again tonight until I got the e-mail. Ticket purchased and feet up ready for a crazy night and plenty of laughs from the Mischief crew. It's great to have them back.

Over The Henge - historical drama set in Stone Henge
One of the most chaotic MMNIs to start this run - the special effects team rather stole the show, catching everyone out several times. Susan Harrison was great in her first appearance, and I enjoyed Henry Shields every time he took to the stage. As with most MMNIs, the plot was impossible to follow - not that it matters here! A few naughty words got in there, so am not sure if they're being less strict on that this time.
Edit - Harry Kershaw back to his good old self, not remembering times or names.

Hound of Wensleydales - a murder mystery set in Cheeseland
I have no words to accurately describe how chaotic this was. Nancy Zamit as Fallulah Ballulah was a decision she immediately regretted and Jonathan took full advantage. I think Jonathan was at his funniest tonight, with his constant bewilderment at what the cast were doing. Cast wise, Niall, Henry Lewis and Charlie did a lot of the hard work, while Nancy was slightly hysterical all evening (in the best way). Impressive work by Harry to make 'Cheddar' into a 5 syllable line of a song.
Debuts tonight for Charlie Russell and Rhyanna Alexander, and the first appearance for Mike Bodie in a while (he didn't get much to do sadly).

Popes on the Ropes - an American wrestling film
This one sort of had a plot, but had a ridiculous number of Janines, and some very random puppet characters. Though it had lots of chaotic, comedic moments, it also had some really lovely, emotional bits too. I thought Rhyanna Alexander-Davis was excellent as Backwards Janine, perfect blend of comedy and sympathetic mother, and a lovely singing voice too. Great to see Mike Bodie in a leading role as well.
Jonathan was at his most evil this afternoon, particularly to Henry Lewis and Mike.

Rumpole of the Motte and Bailey - a medieval legal drama
Even by Mischief standards, some of the things that went on in tonight's movie were just plain weird, but brilliantly entertaining at the same time. Charlie and Niall were great fun as the villains, particularly Niall as the spoilt son of the queen who breast feeds at the age of 35! Mike Bodie made a highly entertaining cameo as Dapper Stan, while Nancy Zamit played yet another chicken! Hilarious cameo by the tech team as God too.
It's so good having this back, I've laughed so much at every one of the movies so far.

Zoomania - an alien invasion movie
I'm never going to be able to listen to Mary Had A Little Lamb in the same way ever again - I thought I was going to die laughing at that! Angry Oscar was out in full force this evening, especially with Niall's many monologues! A great movie with a great mix of comedy and plot - Susan Harrison and Henry Shields were great in the lead roles, with Nancy and Mike providing great back up.

Singing In The Aisles - a musical
Really enjoyed this - perfect blend of chaos, catchy tunes and some hint of a plot (but not much). The songs were catchy and the cast got to show off their singing voices, which in most cases is of a very good standard. Henry Lewis as Asda was lots of fun, as was Joshua Elliott who seemed determined to completely ignore Jonathan and continue down his desire for his character's journey to be around purging (vomiting). Jonathan's outrage at the plot was hilarious, and I loved the Oscar biopic.

As for the rest, as someone with emetophobia unfortunately I spent much of the time feeling slighly nauseous thanks to Josh so it was far from one of my favourite MMNs. |

A Dice With Death - a murder mystery
A very confusing murder mystery with a number of plot twists, and some pretty bizarre moments. Harry as Vinny the Ventriloquist was very good fun, and cleverly got out of having to do his long stand up section that Jonathan wanted him to do. Mike Bodie was great fun, as was Susan Harrison as the police officer near the end. No moments that had me crying with laughter like previous shows, but still a lot of fun.

I couldn’t really get into it tonight, found my mind kept wandering. Shame there was no Josh Eliott, though Rhyanna Alexander and Susan Harrison are wonderful new additions.

Star Paws/Pause - Sci-fi
I really enjoyed this one, not as chaotic as some of the others, but lots of great moments, particularly with Remedy Ron and the aliens. Loved seeing Mike and Susan have very prominent roles in this one, while Henry L and Henry S were great fun as the 2 visiting aliens. Expecting a more chaotic film at midnight with a sleep deprived cast!

Angstronauts - a space/teen movie
The midnight matinee - really enjoyable, very enthusiastic audience and a genuinely good movie. Henry Lewis was out to cause chaos which was hilarious, but there were a lot of great songs and scenes, some for comedy, and some because they were actually decent - some of the scenes between Niall and Nancy were very good in particular, and I also liked the Susan and Henry L duo as well. Charlie corpsing on multiple occasions was very funny. It finished on a high note with a lovely message.
