I feel tonight showed that, as per some of our comments after last Sunday's show, a coherent plot is not at all necessary! Tonight's plot descended into a shambles. I'd really like to re-watch the last 10 mins to see if I can make any sense of it. (Why did there seem to be two Gildroy seniors? Who was whose father?) But the show was hilarious! Good luck in trying to make sense of it - as far as I could tell, the already tenuous plot disintegrated completely not long after the introduction of the salacious filing cabinet!

Dawnstar , the YT clip just popped up when I opened up YT for something entirely unrelated to MMN. I agree with you. It's a shame we can't watch these MMN back as I'd love to rewatch them again and watch the films that I missed. Edit - Just seen your extra post!

Thoroughly looking forward to seeing Jonathan as part of the improvising team tomorrow. As funny as it was, Harry Kershaw making him improvise a 'musical limerick' about window washing whilst hopping (during Oscar's short cameo in the midnight performance a few weeks back) made it rather difficult to extract anything from, haha! Can't wait.

Good luck in trying to make sense of it - as far as I could tell, the already tenuous plot disintegrated completely not long after the introduction of the salacious filing cabinet! I was just about following it until about the last 10 minutes but once the wrong father turned up in the temple most of the rest of it didn't make much sense! Can't wait. That scene was hilarious because of Harry taking over Oscar's chair rather than anything Jonathan was doing during it! I've seen him in the ensemble for 4 shows back when they were at the Arts Theatre & he was rally good when he was in full shows rather than 2 minutes.

I’d decided I was done with the online shows. I’ve loved them but loved the in person ones more. This has got me back for one last show tonight though. I loved Jonathan’s enthusiasm when he did his speeches at the end when I saw them live and will be great to see him in the cast

An absolute hilariously wonderful gigantic mess of a show tonight. Loved every minute of it.
Can we all agree that Jonathan's first song started out to be arguably one of the best (if not THE best) songs of the streamed shows? Went downhill very quickly though, haha.

Nightmare on Bone Street
A horror/slasher film
A film that made little sense, but a lot of death, a lot of humour, and the director picking on one actor (in this case, Jonathan) to do ridiculous stuff - which sums up a lot of the films in this run. Dave's corpsing from last night continued tonight - highlights include: Jonathan and Niall trying to harmonise, Henry Shields using Bryony as a massage chair, and Dave using Niall as some other form of chair, Henry Lewis as an armoire, Jonathan being forced to do all sorts of ridiculous things, Henry L/Dave/Bryony as a tumble drier, and Jonathan being tumble dried! I must say, Jonathan has a really good singing voice!
Think my favourite quote was Dave pleading with Niall not to harmonise with him!
That was Nancy's last film of the run - which has brought home how sad I am that this is nearly all done.

With tonight's MMN it was really great to see Jonathan Sayer on stage in a film before the end of the run. A great evening's again courtesy of Mischief Theatre. With only 2 shows left 😢 I'm sure we are in for a fantastic weekend of total madness.

After all the stick he’s given the cast over this run it was nice to see Jonathan being on the receiving end. Just a shame Harry Kershaw wasn’t there as well.
And I most certainly did enjoy the armoire.

To be fair to Jonathan, the first half of his solo number was genuinely the best song they've done so far - as with Mischief, the quality took a dip but he is clearly a very good improviser. Also, the fact he is quite small allowed them to do some very funny physical comedy which they haven't been able to that much of until now. If they were to return for another season of live streams/stage shows (depending on the Covid situation), I would love to see the Oscar/Emmy role rotated more to allow Jonathan to feature in the improvising cast more frequently.

Yes, it was great that there was more physical comedy tonight. I'm not sure they necessarily need more Oscar & Emmy rotation so much as they need Jonathan to be in the ensemble for more of the shows when he's not playing Oscar. The inadvertantly useful thing about Bryony breaking her arm at the start of the Arts Theatre run was it meant they were short on cast so Jonathan had to be in ensemble whenever he wasn't on as Oscar (except one show when IIRC he wasn't well & they had to get Laura Kirman in). When they have spare people, like in the 2018 tour, he seems to sit out the shows when he's not Oscar.

Last night was also Dave's last show of the run (it figures as Nancy and Dave had done every show in February so far). Will miss his corpsing over the last 2 shows!

Henry L's done every MMN show bar one so really he shouldn't be in the last 2 either. Josh hasn't done any February ones and Mike & Ellie have only done 4 out of the 9 so hopefully the 3 of them will be in the last 2.

Based on a tweet, Joshua is on for both shows this weekend. I feel like we haven't seen Mike for ages, so I imagine he will be on as well. I think Henry Lewis has missed 2 - The Primary Cape Crusader and Wild Feast according to my list and looking through posters and screencaps. Either way, he's done the most - I assume they're scheduled based on availability, given some have done considerably more shows than others.

Yes, you're right. He's still done the most though, followed by Jonathan, Dave & Bryony. I would have thought that everyone other than Josh would have a lot of availability at the moment!

Wishing for Wishy Washy
Pantomime
From the moment this was selected as the genre, I knew this was going to be bonkers - but I wasn't quite prepared for what we witnessed.
Lauren as Madame Frisky, Joshua as Trevor Noun/Lucinda's dad, Niall as Sister Martha/indecipherable being in the bad grammar forest were all hilarious. Harry as Buttons throwing Maths in Joshua's direction while thrusting, trying to cure Lucinda was another highlight. Henry Lewis rather stole the show as a horse/cow hybrid, the full stop goblin and the chief of the bad grammar forest - before break dancing in the final number!

What a brilliant film tonight with the Panto genre. I’m really surprised that this hasn’t come up before in any of the MMN’s either streamed or during a season in a theatre. I thought it worked really well and with some great audience participation as well from the ZOOM audience. With Henry Lewis break dancing at the end just topped up a fantastic evening’s viewing.

The Panto genre worked a lot better than I thought it would to be honest. Thought Grace did a great job as the audience participation in that section. Henry Lewis is always hilarious, but Niall, who normally goes for the more serious characters, cracked me up as Sister Martha and the goblin in the forest.

Great film tonight. Really nice to see Josh back in and was back making me laugh with his absurd performances. Really enjoyed the 'potion making' song too, akin to 'Pick a pocket or two' from Oliver! I thought.
Was only thinking earlier on that there hasn't been a pantomime or a jazz noir film yet. Was also thinking that there hadn't been a coming of age teenage film for a long while. So strange!

It may not be a movie genre, but I think this was one of the funnier ones. With it being a pantomime-style show there was a lot of stuff in there that I feel like Oscar wouldn’t have allowed them to get away with in a normal “movie.” Lauren’s Madame Frisky must had more innuendo In a few minutes than there’s been in the whole run. I also loved seeing Josh back, his humour always seems just a little bit darker and more surreal than the others.
Looking forward to the final one (for now, anyway) tomorrow. Hope it’s as good as the last two have been.
What’s the “other project” they’re doing? Series two of The Goes Wrong Show?

What’s the “other project” they’re doing? Series two of The Goes Wrong Show? Appears to be. From www.mischiefcomedy.com/our-work/mischief-movie-night-in/about : In their final appearance, ahead of filming a new TV series, the Mischief team are returning to their emergency comedy bunker to stream a final run of movies.

What a brilliant film tonight with the Panto genre. I’m really surprised that this hasn’t come up before in any of the MMN’s either streamed or during a season in a theatre. I'm not sure if they are counting previous theatre ones, as a couple of times Oscar has said it's the first time they're doing X genre but it's a genre I have seen them do in previous years. Though I haven't personally seen them do panto before.

So final day of this run, mixed emotions as I don't want it to end - I've laughed so much over the last couple of months and it's cheered me right up. The 3 shows this week have all been classics, so I'm hoping tonight's will end the run on a high.
Niall is doing an Instagram takeover today, and he's posted the cast - it's the same cast as yesterday (Jonathan, Henry L, Bryony, Harry, Ellie, Lauren, Niall and Joshua).

I'll be honest & say that's not entirely the cast I was hoping for.

I notice they're putting up a collection of fan-made posters in the countdown which is a nice touch.
