I liked the play for it's interesting (although quite shallow) examination of psychopathy and for pulling no punches but the audience was abysmal. |

Didn't hear the phone but during the first act there was lady with a coughing fit on the end of a row who really should have left the auditorium ! |

I enjoy a good dark thriller as much as the next person, but this really didn't do anything for me. It seemed to be aiming for sophisticated psychodrama, but only managed late night channel five thriller: From the dark visuals, scratchy video and colourless sparse sets to the music and sound effects that pointed out each emotion the audience should feel, it just felt uninspired.
The script was frustrating too. I assume that the writer did lots of research, but the killer's tics and mannerisms screamed cliche. Similarly the 'scientific' bits just didn't feel believable. I wasn't keen on the Royal Court's recent similar Girls and Boys, but that was much better than this.
The only real highlight was the acting which was good.
One final note; the audience seemed unusually noisy. Lots of crumpling packets of sweets, bottles of water, and coming & going from the auditorium.

Oh dear. This isn't very good at all. Not sure what made the TRH management people would flock to this. The TRH management have an unerring ability to pick a dud. |

Just wrote a really long review and then accidently deleted it. So, to sum up, Parsley style:
Jason owns the show, he gives a great performance.
Surrane was fairly one note but good enough.
We didn't actually need the Mother at all. The story between the killer and the interviewer was so interesting and intriguing, alongside her talking about the science behind the mind of a killer, I actually found the mother stuff broke us away from that.
Set and lighting fine.
Shoutout to the two police officers and the little girl who did a great job of not looking bored carrying chairs on and off and sitting in the corner of the stage for 20 minutes at a time.
It was fine, would of much more enjoyed just the killer and interviewer personally. If you can get a cheap seat, pop along.

I've seen several Instagram pictures of Surrane at stage door seemingly between shows as it's daylight and she looks like she's just popped out to say hi rather than just arrived, so yeah it's seems like she does in these instances.  |

This play was SO dated! It was the worse kind of theatre that just gives you a story, but doesn't try and add any insights etc...and let's face it, this play was so predictable. Having said that, the acting was strong from Jason and Suranne was ok. I really was not impressed by Nina though.

Well I didn’t think it was possible, but it actually happened. Tickets for sale on a Facebook buy/sell group because someone thought it was Disney’s Frozen. I sometimes wonder how these people function in society. (No personal information is in the attached screenshot and I have nothing to do with the actual sale, I just couldn’t believe my eyes)  |

Hope she recovers soon. This really was a turkey but I for one don't see a reason to doubt Suranne Jones' honesty or the professional integrity of her medical practitioner. |

Just seen this over on twitter. I hope she has some time off to recover now. Likewise I don't doubt this- there's no sense in missing the last couple after doing most of the rest of it, sometimes however life and illness happens. |

Nothing to do with the sh*t reviews And half empty papered theatre then Having to read your boring, repetitive and downright dull opinions on how much you hate everything is one thing, but your lack of sympathy for others with comments like this one is another. Between this comment and the one calling the Bridge theatre ‘twattish’ for having gender neutral toilets to have a positive impact on the mental wellbeing of transgender and non binary people (a community where mental health issues and suicide rates are through the roof) just makes you look like an all round terrible human, just FYI. |

It was a long run of a play about a tough subject. It is bound to make anyone feel run down. I think playing to empty houses must be depressing but she was paid and always has something going on once one unsuccessful project finishes. |

I appreciate that parsley speaks with confidence when it comes to his stating how well a show has or hasn't sold, but I've never seen anything other than his confidence to suggest he has inside info?

There were some papering deals to be had but in very niche places associated with the theatre (Please don't kill me, Theatre Monkey)and I didn't see any towards the end of its run.
Maybe my sources aren't as good as Parsley's but whilst it is fair to say shows paper or heavily discount it isn't always that easy to get tickets for shows you want to see, most allow for only certain capacity anyway (particularly at fringe level) and thus don't need to paper if it is selling but not as well as Hamilton.

I didn't book for this but have a couple of friends who did, I think largely on the basis of their fondness for Dr. Foster. I thought some deals might came my way, but they didn't.
