I will definalty be trying to get a ticket to this! It sounds very promising but there are so many hamlets in London recently . The almeida version and one at the park theatre as well as the cumberbatch one recently as well as one at the trafalgar studios and the rsc next year. Now I like hamlet but do we really need this many? I do still want to see it.

Having still not gone to Robert Icke/Adam Scott's version, I think I should probably save my money, but this definitely looks exciting.
Interesting to see the name 'Lolita' amongst the cast. I don't know the last time I saw that name in real life...

I will happily pay for someone else's ticket (yes, even a £95 ticket) if they take me as their +1. I mean, obviously I will be entering the ballot myself, but honestly, I NEED to see this, so if everyone who is not especially bothered can please enter for me?? If I don't win the ballot I will go out of my mind knowing this is happening and I can't see it....
I hate f****** ballots!! God this is going to be so stressful! I think I'm hyperventilating already!

I am trying to calm myself down by thinking this can't be IT - 3 weeks in the 180 seat RADA theatre, for Hamlet? Hiddleston and Branagh are surely going to want a wider audience than that?
There must be a longer run planned elsewhere, surely?? Maybe next year, when Hiddleston is done with Avengers filming? Three weeks (plus rehearsal time) sounds an awful lot like a break in his filming schedule.

Just signed up. A little bit confused at the the under 25 thing. I am not under 25 (moving swiftly on...) but the person I would will be going with is. It did not allow for this so I just hope if when I book our tickets they allow for this. (If they don't we're still going anyway, but don't tell them I said that ) |

Actually I think there are plenty of people not that fussed - but the number of tickets available is *so* tiny, that there are going to be many more times people interested than tickets available. As nice as it is for RADA to have a high-profile fundraiser, there are going to be a lot of disappointed people. It leaves kind of a bad taste in my mouth, to be honest. Unless there *is* going to be a future life for it... |

Well I didn't have *much* interest in this, attributed to the fact that the prices were what they were, but it'd be silly of me not to even register for the ballot when I could possibly get tickets for £15. So thanks to Tibidabo for that - wouldn't have seen if you didn't post! And to also maybe help answer your question, the website says "For under 25s, photo ID including date of birth is required for each ticket", which to me sounds like you win and you checked the "Under 25" box on the registration and you choose to buy 2 tickets, both have to be for Under 25 year old's. Couldn't say for certain, though! |

Oh, they couldn't buy the kind of press coverage this is getting for their fundraising effort. That must be half the point of it, given the investment that must have gone into putting the production on.
If they sold every ticket for £95 (which they're not!) they'd raise about £320k in ticket sales from a 3 week run. Hiddleston and Branagh must be donating their time but presumably they are paying the other cast members, and there are other sundry costs.It's not that much money for the amount of effort going into it - this must have taken months to set up. One big donation from a rich philanthropist would match the actual funds raised, and RADA has some very rich friends.
It's got to be as much for the publicity as for the money.

Yeah I was going to say it's hardly like RADA couldn't raise the money this will generate very easily from another source- by the time you take out costs even though they'll be getting a lot for free/in kind it's still hardly going to make big bucks. What it will get however is a lot of publicity and new mailing list contacts.
Related/unrelated for anyone now signed up to the mailing list, I really do recommend checking out their programming in the theatres, both in terms of students (see 'the next Tom Hiddleson today') and for companies that use the venues, sometimes a bit of a hidden gem!

The overreactions here in either direction are a bit much.
Nice idea and yes part of it is the publicity rather than the actual dosh raised. I like checking out student productions and in particular have enjoyed a number of Guildhall productions more than some professional shows. I haven't seen much RADA stuff though.
