Good heavens, are people still employing Tunji Kasim? I have to assume he's an absolute delight to have in the rehearsal room, because they cannot be casting him on the grounds of acting ability.

Michelle Dockery? I thought her innate blankness worked in the role, but - as I said somewhere else - she seems to build her entire performance around two facial expressions. (But then, she usually does.) Agree about Dockery. She didn't seem to have the natural drive or fire of Diana. Also Tunji Kasim failed for us. He lacked the gravitas and presence to give the required status to that part. We did see an early preview, but would be interested if others felt the same about him. Most tricky in the head-to-heads with Cranston, who even when defeated managed to look stronger than Kasim. Couldn't fault the rest of them. I liked Kasim in this - though again, that's partly because I thought he brought a certain blankness to it that worked for the character (a soulless, amoral high-level corporate drone). |

Good to know we're not the only ones who struggled with him. The other young actor in it had about 3 lines but acted him off the stage. I was like Give him Tunji's part instead and we'll be fine. |

I really liked it. Although, not being a fan of gunshots, this year has given quite a few. I'm the same...lots of loud ones? Saw the crowd coming out from tonights performance. Looked like they loved it. Mr Cranston was very chatty to people afterwards too! |

Cranston definitely living it up while Pinocchio is getting started in the Lyttleton - he's guest hosting James Corden's show in Los Angeles tonight! Always wondered whether big American stars go home during the middle of runs over here, especially when they're playing in rep.

Network had three performances straight after the press night and then none at all for four and a half weeks. It's technically in the rep, but it's not playing. |

Wow - didn't realise the gap was that long. Knew Pinocchio had a wide berth over Christmas but not that wide. Makes you wonder why they bothered and didn't wait until after Xmas? Surely killed much of the post-press night word, though I don't think NT are worried about selling for this production. Perhaps BC was already committed to doing this promotion in the US (presumably for Last Flag Flying).

I wonder if they would have started in September or October if he had been available sooner, we had Oslo for three weeks then Jane Eyre which is unusual for the National to have two short runs that aren't in rep. |

They’re individual companies with zero crossover and as with all the other hits of the fast-sinking Norris NT, they’re basically star vehicles (Angels, Follies, Red Barn, Network) that do a straight run, a hiatus, and then another straight run. Surely soon they’ll abolish the rep altogether and just become a West End house. Their pricing is already at that level. |

The NT has been like this for aeons, and not just under Norris. The idea of being "in rep" as having several different productions scheduled into one venue with different companies is now the prevailing one, even if it is pretty much the exact opposite of what it actually means. |

Maybe I missed something here but yesterday I went to collect my ticket for next Saturday as I will be pushed for time on the day (going to preview of long film first), only to be told that for Network it's collection on the day only.
Apparently, and perhaps not surprisingly, this is to avoid touting/black market sales and was introduced for Angels, but as I wasn't interested in that production, I hadn't known that. I wonder when the restriction was actually imposed for Network as it evidently wasn't from the start and had I followed my usual practice of collecting all my booked tickets whenever I next visited the NT, I'd probably have had mine months ago.

Very strange. I've got mine and have had it for ages. I usually print them out from the little machine in the foyer. You swipe your card and all the tickets you haven't printed all come out at once. Sometimes it's a lovely little surprise as I find a ticket for something I have booked for ages before but forgot about.

They haven't had the ticket machines in the foyer last couple of times I've been to the NT (last time was 2 or 3 weeks ago) - people on the desk didn't seem to know if/when they'll be back, either.

I did look for the foyer machines first but as Marwood says, they've been removed and not returned - I did ask the Box Office staff in case I'd merely missed a new location for the machines but no, they have gone. |

I wouldn't mind e-tickets. I did use the foyer machines if I was happy to collect all my tickets at once and the only reason I didn't do so for Network was because my partner was possibly going to have my spare ticket but it depended on football fixtures which were only announced recently. The machines did not allow the option to collect some tickets only; it was all you had booked or none, so easier to leave it if you thought you might need to cancel or change a booking.
