I thought this was marvellous. Reminded me of seeing Owen Pallet or Andrew Bird play live. But theatrical rather than musical.
I would watch it again tonight. And tomorrow. Probably the finest theatrical experience of the year. Will take a lot to better this.
(Also, I now know that it Parsley hates a play, I am likely to love it. So that’s a useful calibration.)

I see Simon McBurney is directing The Cherry Orchard for Toneelgroep Amsterdam June 2019. I love his work but I have to admit there are a lot of other things I'd rather see him direct. I've seen five and I'm not sure I want to see another one at the moment. Perhaps it'll be a few years before it makes its way over here. Robert Icke's Oedipus is there. I'd be interested to know what his future plans are. The Almeida this autumn, one hopes?
