I just pray this comes somewhat close to London soon, trying everything in my will to get to Bristol!

I'm taking my family who are based in the Westcountry/Wales next week and honestly so excited. I adore this show; one of my absolute favourites.
Also; to see a show at the BOV for the first time too; going to be very special.

I considered a day trip to Bristol but though there was one matinee date with good availability, the trains were completely unaffordable and it would have taken me literally all day to get there and back. Plus now I'm clobbered by this tenacious cold virus and can't risk theatre yet, it's just as well I didn't plan an expensive trip I'd have had to miss. So still hoping for a London transfer idc.

I could post that it's a load of rubbish for those who cannot get there but I must not lie, Romantics Anonymous is 100% delightful and the two leads are just perfect in their roles.I think I had a smile on my face from the moment the chocolates are distributed to the final bows. I was in stalls front row A and that placed me just above stage level. The audience included a lot of students who were clearly enthralled and no chatter but some laugh out loud moments a little tension and a couple of quite moving scenes I understand it's touring North America next so a London transfer is some way off but hopefully one day. Oh and the Bristol Old Vic is a splendid old theatre.

It seemed to take nothing like as long for Malory Towers to be set up with a tour so why not this, which has surely had even better reviews? Is the staging really complicated or what?

Staging not at all complicated. Could run at almost any theatre. I enjoyed Malory Towers at Bristol but this is one of those shows I could watch over and over again. Travel from London was only £5 each way with National Express and the Old Vic is about a 15 minutes leisurely walk from the bus/coach station.

Saw it at the Wanamaker and the staging was almost non existent.
This was the first musical I went to as I end up seeing most things at the Wanamaker and it was magical, began the melting away of my blinkered opinion on musicals and an now not so dismissive of the genre.
Deserves its second life and would be an excellent addition to London’s musical landscape.

Didn't think I was going to get to see this beautiful show again, but I've got a meeting at our Caerphilly office next week, so it would be just plain rude not to swing by Bristol on my way home! And thank you FrontroverPaul for the Row A seat review... it's my first visit to the venue so wasn't sure it would be a good call, but 'twas the best seat available so I took the risk and it sounds like it will work out just fine

Thank you for the travel info; your route wouldn't work for me as realistically I'd need to get National Express from Gatwick (or add hugely to the cost by travelling into London at peak rate to get a coach there) and would have taken too long in relation to the time actually seeing the show - and none spare to look round Bristol, as I couldn't stay overnight. Nice idea but I will hope for a more relaxed visit in better weather - last time I went was for the Xmas market in December 2017 and I was nearly marooned there due to snow.

That's a shame, coach operators charge higher fares for journeys to/from airports than between cities, and peak time travel into London on weekdays is very expensive. From where I live in Kent advance fares for "via London" journeys to places like Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester aren't too bad, even leaving early in the morning, but on Saturdays it's usually cheaper to buy separate tickets. That said it was only when I qualified for a senior railcard that frequent rail travel to matinees became affordable and even then it has to be on inflexible advance tickets.

22nd to 26th September
Romantics Anonymous - Advance Ticket: £16
Romantics Anonymous - Advance ticket for multiple viewers: £31 (Will more than one person be watching the stream? There’s nothing to stop you buying one ticket and doing just that, but, if you love the theatre and are feeling extra supportive, please consider buying a ticket for multiple viewers)

I'm so happy about this as I loved the show in London but couldn't get to Bristol to see it in January.

I am not sure if I am getting it. The website is selling me tickets for Thursday 24th night but the run is 22 to 26 September. I’d rather watch it at the weekend with friends and a themed meal – can I do that? Please and ta :-)

Maybe you need to book via one of the partner theatres in that London?

I don't mind which theatre site I stream it from its the date that's more important

I’d rather watch it at the weekend with friends and a themed meal – can I do that? Please and ta :-) It seems they're doing a 'virtual tour' - the 24th is being hosted by Bristol Old Vic, Poole Lighthouse, Exeter Northcutt, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Theatre Royal Bath and Theatr Clwyd, but many more are involved in the run according to the WOS article. Source WhatsonStage: Venues featuring include Belgrade Theatre, Berkeley Rep, Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival, Bristol Old Vic, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Curve Theatre Leicester, Derby Theatre, Eden Court Highlands, Exeter Northcott, HOME, Lighthouse Poole, Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse, Marlowe Theatre, New Zealand Festival, Norwich Theatre Royal, Oxford Playhouse, Royal & Derngate, Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Singapore Repertory Theatre, Spoleto Festival USA, St. Ann's Warehouse, Storyhouse, The Festival Theatre, The Lowry, The Old Vic (where Wise Children are a Company in Residence), Theatr Clwyd, Theatre Royal Bath, Theatre Royal Nottingham, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts and York Theatre Royal. Maybe the other nights aren't yet on sale, or a search of the What's On listings for the above venues may turn up those hosting the Saturday performance.

www.wisechildrendigital.comThis allows you to choose any of the performances. They are encouraging you to 'attend' a performance linked to your local theatre - guessing because it will spread out the people looking at the stream - but also that the money from that performance will be distributed amongst those theatres. You can also get a subtitled or audio described version - though these aren't live.

Fabulous - have booked for the Friday which I can definitely 'go' to and, to support my local theatres, the Wednesday which I possibly can't 😊
