I've just realised that my office postcode falls into the Islington First concession for people who live or work locally - top price ticket for £25 between 12-22 August. But I normally pay less than that anyway, by picking the cheap pillar seats. Now wondering if it's worthwhile using the discount and paying more? We're normally quite content to lean a bit.
Has anyone used the scheme? What sort of proof of address do they need?

Thanks for the reminder, had forgotten about that one and had somehow missed the changing seat prices.

If you are happy with a £10 seat, why pay £25 unless you want to, Kathryn? Personally, I find that outside of the first few rows, all seats at the Almeida are pretty much equal, really. This is what I'm asking myself - but then I don't think I've ever sat in a 'good' seat there, so don't know what I'm missing! And the thought of a bargain is always tempting. Looking at the preview prices it's not really much of a discount, though, is it? I bet the availability will be poor, too - probably better off booking a good cheap seat later in the run.

Starring Ben Whishaw, written by Christopher Shinn, directed by Ian Rickson.
Reminder that Friends booking begins today (despite an email reminder, I forgot until a few minutes ago.) Booking seems fairly brisk with a little online glitchiness but I got £10 seats for a Saturday fairly late in the run. I think public booking is in a few more days...

I can't decide if I want to see this or not, Ben Whishaw is a yes but the brief play summary doesn't wow me that much whilst potentially threatening the red stuff, I don't know the author, any thoughts anyone?

Saw Ben in The Crucible with Saoirse Ronan on Broadway
Didn't think he was very memorable

LOVED Ben Whishaw in Bakkhai so got myself a belated birthday gift and booked today. Looking forward greatly.
PS And gotta love Almeida Theatre for £10 tickets!

I forgot too! Still managed to get a £10 seat, though further back than I'd usually go. (I'm hoping in my panic I successfully remembered which is TheatreMonkey's favourite seat, but even if I didn't, I'm back row so can elevate myself if necessary.)

Booked. Most seats had gone except for the 10 pound ones bizzarely.

This play looks intriguing but I have to say, the webpage is pretty indicative of something I find frustrating when deciding on new plays:
They give so little information about the play itself. There's no real synopsis or story outline, just a couple of vague sentences that don't really give much information on what the story is about at all. Plus then literally just a word on what type of play it is ('gripping'), and a single image.
I guess that these things are still in development when tickets go on sale, but some of these websites seem so vague as to be irrelevant, requiring audiences to base their decisions on prior knowledge about the people involved rather than the play itself: Do you know the star? Do you know the playwright? And so on.
I know that movies have arguably gone too far in terms of 'too much information' in trailers, but surely it's possible to give a little more information on what you want people to buy tickets for...
(I guess that this is probably less of an issue for some readers here, who are more seasoned theatre-goers than I am and have more experience interpreting these things, but anyway, that's my mini rant).

Forgot too till came here but yes £10 seats still around so rather good. I don't dare not book in case it's great but am on something of a run of not particularly liking new plays i've booked purely on the basis of an actor so hoping this bucks the trend.

The Almeida doing their differential pricing for people who want to see it late in the run again Why do they do that? Supply and demand? Only they can answer that, but my hunch is that it's to encourage people to book early in the run to encourage word of mouth, and then to charge more to people who might wait for reviews and only book if it's well-reviewed. But that's just a guess.

my hunch is that it's to encourage people to book early in the run to encourage word of mouth Yes, sounds probable - I saw something on the Manchester Royal Exchange about sometimes having 'dynamic pricing' when there's high demand but I haven't really noticed them doing it (unless in their case it just meant more expensive Friday and Weekends)

This one looks like it'll be either great or awful. I just wish there was more information about what to expect.
The blurb, with lines about violence in America and god, and the image of the clockface with religious symbols make it seem like it could be an intriguing play covering interesting and important topics. On the other hand, it also sounds like the set up to a subtlety-of-a-brick self-congratulatory rant on the dangers of irrational thought and the idiocy of the NRA, full of straw men.
