The old forum is no more.
RIP the WhatsOnStage forum, 12-02-2007 to 12-02-2016, 1½ hours short of nine years.
We shall rise from the ashes like a very ashy phoenix.

Let's keep it classy for a while. We're trying to promote the forum so we may have some outside attention, and we don't want to create the impression that the average poster here has the IQ of a sock.

I'm going to go the pub and raise a toast to the old place and all those who sailed in her (well that's the excuse I'm going to use for a lunchtime drink anyway)

We shall rise from the ashes like a very ashy phoenix. The ash is already dropping off our tail feathers, as the most ever users online at one time for this forum was today, hurray: "Most Users Online: 144 (about an hour ago)"

Stupid board ;-) This board software doesn't understand the 'proprietary' smilies used in some smart phones and turns them into question marks. Had you written : ) (without the space) instead of using the actual smilie, it'd have worked. Edit from my iPhone using Tapatalk: Actual smilies: ?? Spelled out:

Thanks to everyone that got us here.
I'm trying hard to think of a suitable theatrical quote but i think the sadness has fogged my brain!

I did enjoy WoS.....always an must-pop-by! Fairly rare poster on there - but formerly a regular on Dress Circle (earlier incarnations) which got me into online theatre forums!
But I am liking this.......

Well, we have heard the chimes at midnight (even if it took WOS ten hours to cotton on). I’ve finally accepted that our former forum’s forever gone, so here I am, the Nicholas you knew and tolerated from the old board. In tribute to the old forum, tonight I’ve been on the gin, I’ve opened the jelly babies, and I even bought some parsley just for the occasion. The only thing I was missing was a meat pie.
But this board’s better than the forum, frankly. It’s nice to have somewhere not just for the theatre lovers but truly by the theatre lovers. Thanks to all of you who took that sinking ship and pointed it home. Here’s to the next nine years of bitchy banter about why Michael Xavier’s the best Gaylord, and astonishingly informed opinions on theatre that I value far more than people who do this for a living.
So hey, old friends, now we can stay old friends, who is to say, old friends, how and old friendship survives? But us, old friends, lot to discuss, old friends, here’s to us! Who’s like us? Damn few!

Well done to all, who with a lot of enthusiasm and hard work, set this new home up and brought us in from the cold. But saying that it is still a sad day with our old home bulldozed, I wonder how many posts has been lost there, must be north of say a million?
Has everyone now came over?
But hell, we have a new home now and most of the furniture seems to be in place, a good excuse fora housewarming party?
