That's great news!! I guess though it means Laura Michelle Kelly would've been announced too if she was coming with them...

Luckily i don't think we are short of talented ladies able to fill her role and be brilliant , it was always the other roles that seemed a bit more challenging (and i'm not convinced they have right in AB's case but we'll see).

Hmm.. when I saw this on Broadway I felt it was just too American, or maybe fake-British is a better way of putting it (if you've seen the show them the maids are probably the best example of this... felt like they'd been tipped from some sort of slapstick movie and lightened the tone of all of the Barrie household scenes which, in the movie, are poingnant and help to emphasise the relationships between Barrie and Sylvia and her children).
Additionally, the music felt too pop-y for a period piece, and although that sort of contrast sometimes works, I didn't feel that it did here. It didn't have the subtleties or emotional depth that the film has.
The name, cast and Peter Pan element will probably mean that this'll do fairly well, but I can't see it being a long runner. But then, what is nowadays?

Really I felt the opposite? that it wasn't quite working as it was 'too British' (the book is James Graham and Barlow's lyrics so it's not like the writers are 'pretending' to be British...I mean Barlow pretends not to be when HMRC call but that's another story)
Fully get that it might feel a bit 'over the top' like Downton on acid or something though.
Anyway, I'm pleased to get a chance to see Kelsey Grammer, and as much as I whine about Alfie Boe on here it's really his fans that annoy me more than him so I'm sure he'll be fine.

What I love this the discussions that this shows seems to provoke, it wasn't a darling with critics but seems to have repeat audiences and a core fan base over on Broadway (and of course those as expressed on here not fans of it!).
I can only go on the cast soundtrack and all the television promo performances/promo videos I have watched and I fall into the I can't wait for this to fly into the West-End camp!!
I might finally have my new 'Made in Dagenham'

I'm so looking forward to this musical coming over to London! Such a beautiful story. I am very much excited about Kelsey Grammer, and I'm 19! First knew of him when I was about 16 and I've never seen him in anything... Alfie Bow I haven't seen live either. Laura Michelle Kelly I truly am hoping that she comes across with the production although I could see Danielle Hope in this? Or a Strallen?

Danielle is wayyyyyy to young to play a woman with 4 kids!

A (fairly) recent example of Kelsey Grammer's talents is Boss. It was cancelled after two series, which was more to do with the second series writing quality than the acting but his performance was quite a revelation. www.channel4.com/programmes/boss/episode-guideHe's a long way from Frasier here.

Presumably this will be taking over from Charlie at Drury Lane? I want it to come to London, I am so excited for it to come over as it is one of my favourite films and I love the score to the musical, but I hope to God it doesn't go to the Drury Lane, only as I fear it may die a fast death in that size a theatre as it would come in relatively unknown as a musical.
What it would need to do it start performances end of January after Charlie ends at the beginning of January, in time for the Olivier cut off date to get some proper promo out there through that and get promo going through television performances etc... it could find success if it manages to garner a lot of word of mouth, smart casting and promotional performances. I really hope this does well though, I really want it to stick around!

The Aldwych company also own the theatre it's currently in on Broadway so it would make sense rather that a Really Useful Theatre

I'd have thought Drury Lane would be too big for this but I can't see them letting Charlie close if they didn't have something else lined up. Look at the Dominion and Palladium both struggling to get long runners. Drury Lane wouldn't risk it too. Be it they offered Charie reduced rates or something else, I don't think they'd let it close unless it was literally empty night after night.

If they extended it again it might not be popular so they think to close it now. 4 years is a really impressive run, especially in a theatre that huge! It's not closing until January so they have plenty of time to get a replacement show, even for a limited season. They are probably doing negotiations now about the next show but haven't confirmed it yet. I agree too that Finding Neverland shouldn't go there as the theatre is too big but who knows? It would be better for the show if it doesn't probably.
