Well. I rather like a Lloyd-Hughes. I don't mind which one but alas, I'm not so sure about this play. There's a lot of talking to the audience. "Here I am in Iraq". "Lots of people around and they don't half love an argument". "I knew if I was going to save Iraq I'd have to give them a cup of tea and an oatcake". That kind of thing.
It gets a bit better towards the end but it was all just a bit unsatisfying. Unlike the sausage roll at the Hampstead. I think I'm getting addicted to their sausage rolls. And I don't mean Henry Lloyd-Hughes. Fnar Fnar.
Nice little performance from Nezar Alderazi as Ahmed though.

Not an original thought but.... That's 1hr 40 mins of my life I'll never get back.
It was dull, dull, dull. No actual plot line and ends abruptly. Some nice performances and a stylish production that did not redeem a stultifying play. I'm not particularly interested in Iraq so maybe I shouldn't have gone but I enjoy most things at Hampstead so thought I'd risk it.
Also, although I was at the old gits' matinee (I'm allowed to say this as I am one myself) with cheaper prices, it was only two thirds full.

I though it fell more on the insipid side, toot a patch on Filthy Business the play before.

Yes, Filthy Business was excellent and I also really enjoyed Sex with Strangers.
