The London cast recording is finally getting released on March 25th, a Broadway one to follow. I wonder what took them so long to release it - the show's run was two years ago now.

Yeah, I'll be getting this.
A great show. I remember i had accidentally double booked and couldn't go, so sold my ticket to a friend and then subsequently had to queue for a couple of hours after work for a return.

That's funny Anthony, I also double booked when I had tickets. Thankfully I chose this over Jude Law. Thought it was a great show. Not sure why it's taken them so long to release the London Cast Recording. Be good to revisit it.
The broadway cast looks amazing, so I'm also very happy to hear that they will receive their own recording. I'm assuming some changes to make it worth it.

I peordered my copy last week. Maybe once there wasn't an immediate London West End transfer they held off release of the cast recording to coincide with the opening on Broadway. Great opportunity to give both the album and the US show more publicity.
Tempted to try and see it when I'm in NYC in April.

It was May last year when I spoke to Matt Smith about this - he'd just been sent a sample of the cast recording then and was saying how good it sounded.
So it's been kicking around for a while now.
He also said that walking into that rehearsal room full of 'proper' singers & dancers was one of the scariest things he's ever done!

I personally thought the only good thing about this prod was the set/lightning design. And Susannah Fielding. Lovely voice!

I'm surprised that ths show seems to have so many fans. I thought that while it was slickly produced , it was absolutely awful. The best songs were by Huey Lewis and the book scenes were endless and witless. I'm surprised that its being done in the states as the only reason it did well here in its short Almieda run was the presense of Matt Smith and the relatively small capacity of the theatre.

I wasn't in awe of the show as such, but I did enjoy the music a lot. I grew up in the 80s, so it's a sound I love and which brings back lots of memories. Can't wait to get my hands on the CD.
For what's it worth, I didn't like Spring Awakening's (original) staging either or the overwrought plot, but I adore Duncan Sheik's music. I think he's a great songwriter and I also love his solo efforts. So for me it's less about American Psycho as a musical but about Sheik's music.

The show had been very close to selling out before casting was announced. The size of the theatre would definitely have been a factor, but the casting was much less of one than people account for.

Yes, I guess the casting of Matt Smith meant that the tickets that were available then sold quicker than the TARDIS and it became a hot ticket because so many people then wanted tickets. I recall seeing lots of tickets available when I had booked which was before the announcement. |

Yep, that's how the V&A screenings work. If there's likely to be a huge crowd, you should turn up relatively early (though it's a Sunday, so how early can you turn up realistically, considering opening times?), as there was a pretty overwhelming turn-out for the screening of Hedda Gabler that involved Benedict Cumberbatch, but there's no cost and no catch.

Reading the Broadway World forum this seems to be dividing opinions. I'm just hoping its runs until December so I can see it. Thoroughly enjoying the cast album.

I saw it and I couldn't really get into it. I appreciated all the separate elements and incredible work that went into it, but it wasn't my thing. I certainly didn't hate it, but I didn't love it (or like it much) either. It's weird to be this on the fence about something -- usually I'm not!
