Mmmm so not that much different from Double Bubble Duchess. It's OK, it does the job of introducing her and gives the actress a chance to show off a bit vocally. Note that they sing the only known song from the show, the rest are totally forgetful. What a wasted opportunity. I hear it is being completely re-conceived for Broadway. My daddy says that I'm the top, etc... My mummy says I'm a miracle, etc...

I wonder if anything will be said at the show tomorrow night, or even tonight at the curtain call, which is yet to happen?

Very touching.... And also reiterates that this story is about the original music from the film and not the new songs.
I hope they sort it out for Broadway. RIP Mr Wilder. One of my favourite films ever!

That was very beautiful tribute. I wonder too if he saw the show. I honestly cried when Charlie found the golden ticket. So swept up by the musical was I.

One of my favourite films too! I do wonder if now they add a couple of nods directly to the Wilder interpretation for the Broadway production as a form of tribute to the actor?

One of my favourite films too! I do wonder if now they add a couple of nods directly to the Wilder interpretation for the Broadway production as a form of tribute to the actor? I'm not sure about specifically the character of Willy Wonka (as all interpretations of a character should be unique depending on the actor), but in general I talked a bit about this on the Broadway thread here, that on the trailers it looks like they are revising it to make it more like the 1971 film, dropping hints such as the "CANDY MAN" number plate and the whistling of the original Oompa Loompa song at the end. After the whole experience of Gene Wilder passing, and watching the company sing "Pure Imagination" on the tribute video above, I think that the show really has been missing this familiarity of the movie and I think the changes would be for the better. Right now, it's almost like Mary Poppins without the Disney magic, if done right it can still work if the Wilder film is mixed with Roald Dahl (despite him hating the film).

So i was thinking about seeing this show one more time before it closes and, as i havent seen it with this latest cast, i was wondering what it was like. What principle roles have been replaced, who are the standouts etc? ....

Jonathan Slinger was very good when I saw him a few months ago. Much creepier than Douglas Hodge or Alex Jennings.

I kinda wanna go once more before it closes too. I saw the show just after it opened and have seen it twice since but not in about a year or so. I haven't seen this current cast at all but I do enjoy this show.

Hey Charlie Fans, Interval Productions are running a silent auction to raise money for their new British musical, Muted, and have a signed poster by all the West End Cast up for grabs. If you fancy it, just go to: www.intervalproductions.com/auction and place a bid! Sarah x

Went to the evening show today, possibly last time and first time in two years. I enjoyed it alot! Got the last TodayTix dayseat and no restriction at all. Cast were great, Ross Dawes was a fantastic Wonka. Also a speech at the end, which was quite touchjng regarding a story of a child to do with Children in Need.

Anyone know when UK tour dates will be released for this?
Would like to see it again but I doubt its coming anywhere near London as it seems a tour which will go to the big venues (Southampton, Bristol etc) and stay for a few weeks like Mary Poppins.

It's not touring until 2018, and I gather it's rather dependent on how the Broadway production is received.
