I'm going to the matinee prom. Couldn't resist because I love Oklahoma (and never seen it 'live' - I know this is semi-staged but still.....)

There was a 5 second clip of the dance rehearsal on yesterday's 'vapid' Proms Extra. It looked impressive.

I'm going to the evening performance. I rather wish I was doing the matinee, to spare me the usual post-Prom sprinting down Exhibition Road to try to get a train home at a reasonable hour, but when I booked I didn't know if I'd be working or not so had to book the evening.

I'm at the matinee with friends then dinner at the Ivy in Kennie High Street. Should be home just in time to watch it all over again on TV.

Just managed to steal one of the last few tickets in the stalls for the matinee - my first prom and first time in the RAH, excited!

Oklahoma hasn't been done on the West End stage for nearly 20 years and it's in the lexicon of great musicals, so I wonder if this gets well received if this make it to the West End!!! The London Palladium will be free in January?

Well that was great - a really terrific cast, Scarlett Strallen was a beautiful Laurey! It was cleverly staged too, very slick choreography. And the John Wilson Orchestra were fantastic. Those of you who are going tonight/watching on TV are in for a treat!

Really fantastic (for the most part). Strallen is a wonder, as always, and David Seadon-Young a total revelation as Jud Fry - in his own way just as good as Shuler Hensley all those years ago, and nicely underplayed when quite a few around him are emoting to the heavens or, like Belinda Lang, overselling every single dreadfully shrieked line in the worst of all cornpone accents. Robbie Fairchild simply brilliant. The man is a cap-S star and this confirms it. Can't wait to see it again on TV in 40 minutes.

Well - what an amazing afternoon!
It was wonderful!
The orchestra was fabulous, the dancing was brilliant and the singing just lovely.
Totes agree with Londonlad about Robert Fairchild. Just fab as the dim Will Parker & he seemed to spend the last 10 minutes kissing Lizzie Connolly, who, despite being the luckiest lady today, was also terrific.
I did keep expecting David Seadon Young to limp as he does in 'American in Paris''. But he was splendid - full of pathos and you did feel sympathy for him - he was just lonely - although that's no excuse for being a bit of a sex pest!
I can't wait to watch it again tonight!
