The Cardiff leg of the tour starts tonight!
Oh no it doesn't - After noon today, the venue tweeted that the show's producers have cancelled the tour!
This seems a bit sudden!

They cancelled the end of last week's leg - it would seem that the producers hadn't actually secured enough funding for the tour in the first place.

There was something on twitter yesterday about it being cancelled after 2 performances as the producers suddenly had no money...all more than a bit shady! It wasn't exactly looking like the next big thing in Musical theatre but a big shame for those now out of work (and lost income for theatres)

As I understand it, figures for this were dire. Like, I've never heard of a tour selling so terribly. It's a shame it's been pulled, but not surprising given the sales.

I've just noticed we have a poster in the kitchen at work for this with a discount offer (not unusual we get a lot from the New in Cardiff for displaying their posters etc) but I also had another comp offer so clearly things weren't great sales-wise.
As much as it's awful, I confess you'd have to have paid me to go and see it...

Last week, the New Theatre was sold out all week with The Play that Goes Wrong.
This week, it's empty for the week without Shout! The Swinging 60s Sensation.
The ups and downs of a receiving venue ...

Bizarre show . Its actually got a topline cast, humour, and some big songs. Saw it in Blackpool , to a more empty than not theatre. Well performed and got a good reception. Then the tour emerged without Suzanne Shaw, Liz McClarnon and Amelia Lily . Liz Mclcarnon tweeted to explain why not her
/photo/1 even though she was on its posters still. It was then advertised with two, and then 3, and then 4 singers, with Samantha Dorsey finally emerging as the fifth - but never making the posters i saw. Then it starts in Bromley, to appreciative tweets, but after one day its off , due to technical issues, and its still off, when I trudge there for the saturday matinee. Then it just vanishes on the atg site. It looks like a serial snafu. Which is a shame- because its got a really good cast who reportedly did a very good job. A to why it doesn't sell , when there's much much worse going around, the name can't help - many people won't get the title , and it says little about whats its about.

This sounds like a modern day Max Bialystock production!

No one was paid for the Blackpool production so I'm surprised some of the cast revived their parts. It should never have been allowed to get this far.

I didn't realise theatre was exempt from minimum wage requirements. I believe the production company went insolvent and then started a new company.

As one of the few who had actually bought a ticket for this, I'm still waiting on any contact at all from ATG to tell me its been cancelled - despite them having already removed the show from the website. Ho hum, only wanted to see Sonia Also the advertising on this one was non-existant I only found out about it when I was searching the website for another show later in the year that I knew was coming. I mean they already have adverts and leaflets out for The Band coming to town but this had zilch. Shame for everyone involved on stage and backstage and a hex on the people behind it all.
