Have to voice my dissent about the way ATG Card seems to be going: as previously noted, they seem to have moved away from discounting; such offers as they do have seem confined to things like "£5 off for members on Monday evening" which is not much of a reduction in itself and no good if you can't go on a Monday; also, though I'm on their mailing list for several venues, I NEVER receive any offers by email. I was intrigued to learn (from a post here) last year that there is a standby offer (again, while they wouldn't want people holding off booking in the hope of using this instead, it'd be nice if they let members know), but unless you live close to a venue, you can't take advantage of it. I appreciate that it still works well for some here and that's great, but I'm seriously wondering whether it's worth the expense for a further year. I have received superb offers at Richmond for Standby offers, 1 got 4 tickets for 4 different shows for £12 last year, these were seats that were originally £39. Does anyone know if Wimbledon does the same? I live between the Orchard Theatre, Dartford and Churchill Theatre, Bromley and both theatres are operated by HQ theatre and this theatre chain also does its own card, but for me to get this card, I would have to buy a separate card for Bromley and one for Dartford, so that is £60 for 2 cards, 1 for each venue, once in receipt of this card I am entitled to 2 for 1 offer, which is hopeless to me and you get the usual stuff like 20% off the restaurant, newsletter, priority booking all equally worthless to me. If they combined their card for their group of theatres and offered discount instead of 2 for 1 - I would go for this, in a shot, but the offer is no good to me, but suppose if you go with someone it's excellent.

Sorry if this seems obvious to you all, but what is this standby offer you keep referring to? I’ve never heard anything about it

Sorry if this seems obvious to you all, but what is this standby offer you keep referring to? I’ve never heard anything about it Well precisely: I've been an ATG member for years and had never heard of it until someone here mentioned it last year. So why doesn't ATG tell its own members? I'm also registered for emails from several ATG venues (Brighton, Richmond, Wimbledon and London) but nary a word do I hear from any of them - in fact, the best gen comes from others here! Think it's time I braced myself to email ATG to say I'm thinking of cancelling my DD as on the basis of the few shows I booked last year, I'd have done better to pay the fees than the membership cost.

I only get the offer emails for selected venues. Ones for Birmigham come through but not for Bristol or Wimbledon. No idea why but that’s the way it is

No idea why but that’s the way it is It shouldn't be random at all as you can check via your account (which I think is possible even if you are a mailing list member only rather than a full member, but I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong) to see which venue mailing lists you are subscribed to. It is quite hard to navigate to the right section of the website but this is how I checked and it only deepened the mystery of why my chosen venues never email me.

Ive spoken to the call centre and double checked that my account is set up right. I still don’t get the emails. Sometimes I don’t get booking confirmation mails either, and other times I do. Sometimes I get the confirmation within minutes, other times it’s the day after. It’s totally random and I can only put it down to their system.

I only get emails for manchester. Despite not having lived there since the 90s and not having been to a show there since Ghost was in previews. Nothing from Bristol where I went semi-regularly or any of the london theatres where I go often

showgirl when I look at my account it shows that Bristol and four other venues are selected however I still don’t receive offer emails for them all. I’ve tried deselecting and deselecting them however it’s still pot luck as to which ones I receive.

I need to do this as I get constant ATG offers for Oxford Theatre. I'm sure it's lovely but I've never been and am very unlikely to ever go so not sure what is going on there!

I’ve never had to cancel a ticket before but thanks to today’s weather I’m going to have to cancel seeing Wicked in Bristol tonight. I know that my ATG card would allow me to exchange the ticket but seeing as it’s the last few days in this venue I can’t do any of the other remaining shows. Anyone know whether I’ll be likely to get a refund or not? I didn’t bother purchasing the ticket insurance but isn’t something similar included with the card itself? Also does anyone know the number I need to call in order to get through and cancel the ticket?

You may have found the number by now if the show is tonight but just incase this is the number I used to exchange tickets for the weekend earlier on. 020 8544 7469. Their website says you can exchange 48 hours in advance but no refunds. But maybe in the circumstances they are allowing refunds. Let us know how you get on!

galinda thanks. Yes the show is going ahead tonight meaning they won't offer refunds unfortunately. I would ask to exchange it for another night however I already have tickets for Saturday night and cannot make the other performances. Shame but that's just the way it goes

Does anyone else have trouble getting updates/ e-mails off them? I've not had any lately with local offers yet earlier today I discovered by chance that there is a really good offer on tickets for Miss Saigon in Manchester (all stall and circle seats £20 for early next week). I only discovered this whilst actually browsing for tickets.

Having checked my ATG online account for any issues, I ended up contacting the customer services dept and getting them to confirm which theatres I wanted info from. After this, I now get the emails on a regular basis. Hope this helps!

I've been all through this with ATG recently and they wrote to apologise and sent me a few brochures by post, but it has made absolutely no difference whatsoever and I still never receive emails, which is what really grates, for precisely the reason richey mentions, ie offers.

I don't think I've ever seen a theatrecard offer email. I don't think it matters terribly for me in that all the offers I've seen by chance are for regional theatres nowhere near me, but it is annoying as it's meant to be one of the card benefits.(Along with priority booking, which has been hit and miss lately too.)
I decided last year to cancel, as I just wasn't getting enough benefit to justify the fee. I've got it until August this year and I've barely used it.

I don’t get the promo mails either. I’ve rung their CS team today and the settings are correct. I told her that lots of people have this problem (and how I know that) and asked her to flag it to their technical team.
I asked her if this was a known problem and she said she wasn’t aware of it. I suggest that anyone not getting the mails rings the customer services number and says the same so that they know there’s a real problem. It’s 0208 544 7469.

in fairness ATG want to take your money for their card and then make the process for offers as convoluted as possible, when trying to dodge the booking fee on their tickets it is no mean feat and you have to know what you are doing and they are still brazen to offer insurance on the ticket, even though the card does this.
But once you get to know the system you can get some amazing offers such as;
£25 walk up ticket with card for Miss Saigon (best seats stalls).
£12 walk up ticket for Pressure at Richmond.
Those 2 offers pay for the card.
Also got £10 off Hairspray.

Clearly I don't know the system well enough!
I've literally only used it to save on booking fees, priority booking and exchange tickets a couple of times! First year I made my money back in saved booking fees, second year I didn't - and the priority booking was only so-so, I think I missed a few priority booking windows because it was only a day or so.

If you go as a group of 4 and take the £10 off opening night offer the card pays for itself right there and then. Or I f you go as a single and take the same opening night offer offer 4 separate times it pays for itself. Then you have the booking fee savings, drinks discounts etc on top of that. It’s one of the few loyalty cards that does actually work well I think.

You'd think that ATG would want to get as much business as possible from those with cards though. Someone who doesn't feel they haven't had value for money is hardly likely to renew the following year. Plus surely they'd prefer to sell any remaining seats at a discount rather than not at all.
