I didn’t get a conformation email, but the tickets show up on my history of orders so who knows if I’ll get them or not 😬 I regret buying 8 now, it probably looks to the box office like I’m trying to sell them on for profit but I just saw it as a good opportunity to take lots of friends with theatre tickets being so expensive.

To be fair, if I didn't live on the other side of the UK to Cardiff I'd have probably ordered about four free sets of tickets by now!

This will be going on an International Tour, opening in South Africa in Oct 2018 (Johannesburg) until Jan 2019 (Cape Town), then tours Singapore, Hong Kong, China and others from March 2019 - January 2020. Looks like it's one long contract, dependent on actor interest and availability I guess!

Not sure how well this is selling in Manchester but ATG have just sent me a free promo cd so they're obviously ramping up the publicity

I’d say places like Glasgow, Aberdeen, Bradford, maybe Plymouth, Belfast possibly?

Plymouth and Bradford are already on sale! Aberdeen recently had wicked, so it should/could come up here ! Hopefully you get it. Glasgow too. Most touring productions sadly have the attitude that a month long run at the Playhouse or Festival Theatre will be enough to serve Scotland. It mostly does, but then it leaves all the other places like Kings Glasgow to get loads of tribute acts, BK productions and general other crap.

So I just got 8 tickets for the Cardiff run for £0.00, still in a bit of a daze! I was browsing the Millennium Centre website on my laptop and some tickets at the back of the circle with the value of £52 showed up as free for various concessions (Under 25, students, seniors) so naturally I quickly snapped up some for me and my friends. I’m confused whether this was a glitch on the website or if it’s a scheme to give free tickets for younger people to see Matilda for free. The latter is unlikely so I’m wondering is there anything the ticket office can do if it is the former? Anyone remember this? Looks like the WMC have cancelled my order, has the same happened to everyone else who “bought” some tickets with the glitch?

They probably realised no money was paid to the theatre, realised their mistake and cancelled any freebies.

The Centre did call me earlier and left a mesage saying it was about Matilda and to call them back but I’ve been busy with my own show rehearsals today so I’ll see what becomes of that tomorrow!

Anyone clued up on trading law/consumer rights? It's fair enough to cancel them but I always thought there was an acceptable period of time after which companies had to honour it? I think we all knew these weren't supposed to be free but if someone genuinely thought it was a special promo, by this point they could well have booked travel, accommodation etc. I'm surprised it took that long! I remember due to a glitch, I didn't get charged for a Friday Rush ticket at the National but they called me the following Monday to say it hadn't gone through but they would hold the ticket until I could pay for it

So after chatting to the box-office they offered me the tickets for £5 each as an Under-25s offer, with no obligation to keep them all if I didn’t want to. Very happy with the service and my £5 ticket! For my chums over on the Wicked thread reading this, the nice lady at the ticket office was called Sarah Louise!

Oh god what if it’s her. If she’s moved to Wales and hidden herself in the Matilda fandom to cover her tracks she got another thing coming. 😡

It's fair enough to cancel them but I always thought there was an acceptable period of time after which companies had to honour it Basic contract law requires "consideration" - even if only a symbolic penny or a button - as part of the contract. With no money exchanged, the contract potentially can't be held to exist. There's also the rule of "mistake" by which the contract can also be annulled. This. My brother works in law for a bank and he says it’s much like the “I found it at this price on the shelf, you have to honour it” stuff. It’s simply not true. The ideal thing they would do is issue an apology to each customer personally, explain the situation, and take the payment agreed (the ticket price). If they were feeling generous/PR conscious they could offer a free programme voucher with their ticket or waive the booking fee, or both.

That's what I was thinking, you have a much stronger argument if you've paid £1 than if you've paid nothing.

A heads up - prices in the stalls and dress circle for weekday performances for the remainder of the run in Manchester seem to have dropped significantly (not surprising, there are a LOT of unsold seats and they very clearly miscalculated what this market would bear for this particular show). Seats that were £60 are now £38, seats that were £45 are now £27. No idea whether prices in the upper circle have also changed, I don't do the (acrophobia-tastic) upper circle in the Palace.

I'd say it's families being priced out by the extortionate pricing, and the Manchester run is very very very long, so it may be hard to sell out the Palace for that long. I'd imagine they'll do the same with Edinburgh as it's a massive theatre, but it isn't there as long and most of the weekend performances have sold out.

I'm looking at Mondays/Tuesdays last few weeks of November and still getting £60/£75 seats in the Stalls. Different browsers.

Oh so those are the discounted prices! I think Q > W has been around that price for a while. Thanks for checking though! Two deaf parents want to see it but knowing (from London) how quiet the show starts they'll struggle with this sat anywhere further back than M.
