Parsley raises a fair and valid point that you shouldn't go to see a show to be titulated, to make up for poor directing options. I have seen a lot of nudity on stage over the years and I am not prudish, but expect when the director opts to use this, it's necessary and relevant to the show, not the production, a good example of this was Sar ah Kane's Cleansed, at the National - which had a lot of full frontal nudity, but it was in context with the piece. Nothing worse will lie with the critics if a faded Hollywood Star gets her kit off, will come across as desperate and one last throw of the dice. Thanks for your eloquent post My initial post really was not offensive And many people like taking offence at some of what I post regardless God knows how they manage with actual world tragedies and injustices I too saw Cleansed and it's a good example of where the nudity was secondary In that play the text does demand some nudity in the first place Another example that comes to mind Was the Judas Kiss where there was plenty of protracted nudity Again it's in the text and therefore you can see a context In cat on a hot tin roof There is no nudity instructed in the text And adding it Where the staging lacks purpose And there is a paucity of acting It leads to the wrong focus and of course will be subject to analysis Trust me the attention is going to be on the nudity It's so wrong and sad for them

As ever it's the old 'it's not what you say it's the way you say it' Phantom you raise a perfectly valid point. And in my original comment, if Parsley could be bothered to read it, I said comments on nudity as an artistic choice were perfectly valid. We've all sat through uncomfortable and unnecessary nude scenes, and as women often ones that are often incredibly uncomfortable (men too, but I'd wager in a poll women on here would have been made more uncomfortable more often)
Nobody is arguing that it might be a terrible artistic choice and/or not warranted. BUT it's the manner of 'judgement' in the comments about actor's bodies that are the issue.

Perhaps the shower is really cold
Certainly
It gives a different spin and hypothesis on why Brick can't have a child with Maggie

How big is your cock @parsley? I'm just wondering what you classify as 'small'. It's all relative after all.

Either have the courage of your convictions and take the flak from your fellow members, or think twice about what you're saying in the first place. Editing after the flak starts is cowardly and small.

How big is your cock @parsley? This isn't going to be the new "what do you do for a living" thread is it? I don't think it will be as uniformly well-received.

Maybe something like 'how big is your cock/how big a cock are you?'?

At least Brick managed to provide himself with a shower without the need to call out the police.

Come on guys play decent, I know we are frustrated as it is half way through the football close season and there is a lot of endolphins about!!! Also no announcement on a big show opening or closing, which I imagine adds to the frustration, brexit dying a death - when I posted my post earlier I didn't realise we are in a middle of a civil war, this Hot Tin Roof is getting as Hot as Hell.
Why we at it, I had a peruse through theatreboard terms and conditions several times and I couldn't ascertain whether this very board uses metric or imperial?

The smut! If this continues I'm going to have to start using an incognito tab to look at Theatreboard. 😜

This thread is why I love this forum. This probably says a lot about me but I don't care. That I'm writing this with a large courgette on my desk left there by my boss is also amusing me. #notaeuphamism

Funnily enough yesterday my boss gave me a bag of small yellow courgettes to celebrate my first week of renewed vegatarianism . #mostcertainlynotaeuphanismhowverydareyou!

haha "she" and she currently has a bumper crop of courgettes and cucumbers in her garden so we're all being offered large green veg on a daily basis! or just left them whether we like it or not.
I had it given to me yesterday, left it on my desk because I decided that as I was going to the cinema for Angels in America straight from work I didn't want a vegetable in my bag...imagine explaining that in a bag search!! (and given the shape and the show...well!!)

Oddly enough my colleague also gave me a large cucumber this week - it must be a trend! It isn't odd at all. Fruits and vegetables grow seasonally and weather conditions affect the timimg, abundance and quality of each harvest. So every grower is presented with a bumper crop at this same time, unless they did something drastically wrong or grow in a rare micro-climate.

Or that vegetables grow...like in the ground? I feel so enlightened.

Monkey I REALLY wondered where that story was heading...or where the cucumber was heading.
There's a cactus at Dyffryn Gardens a National Trust property near here which is a very unfortunate (or fortunate) shape. And the gardeners know it- it's quite prominently placed.

Monkey I REALLY wondered where that story was heading...or where the cucumber was heading. Thinking about it, given that we all received a free cucumber (the curved ones that they couldn't sell) the coach home was pretty dangerous. it's quite prominently placed. Not going to ask how you verified that fact. Some things are best left to the imagination. Or not.
ANYWAY so hows about that Jack O'Connell's cucumber? (trying to drag this back on track, probably failing)

A cornichon according to Parsley, though you can make up your own mind as to how reliable a source Parsley is on, well, anything.

Sorry to spoil the cucumber-related fun guys, but I'm here to post my thoughts on the play ;-)
Saw this last night and was very impressed. Didn't know anything about the play and have never seen any of the actors before except for Sienna Miller. Very strong performances and the running time flew by. I personally didn't feel the nudity was inappropriate in the context of the play.
The only things I wasn't sure about were the shower (all that water, wasted) and the set as a whole, which would have suited the Young Vic itself but looked a bit odd stuck into the Apollo.
