My local pantomime used to be 2 hours and 15 minutes, including the interval, but the theatre changed it to 90 minutes because parents were complaining that their kids thought it was too long.

I guess it just proves that kid's attention spans are very short. Ain't that the truth! Last summer it was elephants and this summer there's a Lego trail around the city centre. There's lots of looking, but very little seeing. It's tick it off the list, maybe a photo, then onto the next. |

Looks as if Shrek The Musical will be touring the UK in 2023 produced by Dreamworks Theatrical
Dates have just been announced for Theatre Royal Plymouth 21-29 July 2023.

I do like the show - it has a cracking score and a great introduction for kids into the theatre.

Great news loved this show besides the seats we sat in at the WMC on the first row of the upper circle first two seats that’ said restricted view on the right that I didn’t even see when I booked lol defo going again around get a good view this time. Can’t wait to see it again

What’s Joanne Clifton’s singing like?
I’ll probably book as I do love me a bit of Shrek but I do hope it’s not that cheap version with the puppets instead of actors for the two younger Fiona’s.

I saw Joanne in the lead in Flashdance, I thought she had a reasonably good voice and acted quite well too. Will probably see this at some point on the tour as my five year old son will love it.

I saw her in Flashdance, and Thoroughly Modern Milly and also in Rocky Horror, and then as we came out of Covid, at a pub theatre in Pippin, and she was different in each, plus could sing well. |

I saw Antony Lawrence as Miss Trunchbull in Matilda (he was the 1st cover/understudy) and he was excellent , but I've never seen him in anything else since then.
The process of getting into the Shrek mask and costume takes so long I do not envy it at all.

It's been forever and a day since I last seen this, way back when Alice Fearn was the Gingerbread Man.
Tempted to book as it's a new production, hopefully this time they'll have a bit more vision with the set design.

(as seen via the Make Up Designer's Insta Page) They probably hired a cowel, or just didn't have the budget to make better looking ears for the first promo shoot many months ago. |
