This show did nothing for me, so happy it's not taking a slot at my local theatre.

Hate it when a show I'm not interested in is scheduled into my local theatre, when oh when will they take pity and stop making it compulsory for me to attend?

Nigel Harman is directing the tour again... he has said: "I had so much fun directing the original UK & Ireland Tour that I jumped at the chance to work on it again... It's certainly become one of the classic family musicals of all time and I'm really proud to be a part of it.". Now... I really enjoyed the show, but one of the classic family musicals of all time? Isn't that a bit much!

Really don't get the backlash Kimberley Walsh faces in musicals? She sounds really good and suited for the part in these vids?

I don't think Miss Sutton Foster needs to worry about anything.
Also, did they completely change that routine in the actual show to accommodate the fact that Kim can't tap dance? Those rats must have been knackered carrying her as it's quite a long piece!
Major snaps to her for getting the voice up there on I Know It's Today though. You'd hardly believe she's been smoking twenny Bensons a day since she was 9.

I love this score. Who id be is beautiful I agree. It is one of the best act one closers for a musical I've ever heard. Also I'm glad this tour is going to the Alexandra in Birmingham this time instead of the Hippodrome, it's more intimate which I guess would be necessary for a scaled-down tour like this.

I know there were attempts to stunt cast in London, with some interesting results...but given that the last tour was cast on talent alone and sold generally very well, I would think (and hope) that they won't feel the need to stunt cast this time around. That said, with no cast announced yet, if they end up struggling for sales there's plenty of time to pull some washed up C-list soap star off the street I'm sure.

I actually found this an interesting choice which surprised me. It was near enough sold out for a 4 week run at the Hipp last time, and this time doing 2 weeks at the Alex with about 500 less seats! My thoughts is that they could get a better deal with ATG. But yes, I agree it'll work even better in an intimate venue. That said, I loved it from the front stalls at the Hippodrome, the atmosphere in that place is electric when it's full.

Maybe that could be all the reason for down-sizing to the Alex as a lot of Brummies have already seen it, maybe not as many would want to go again only less than 3 years later. Until recently I think the Alex got a bit overshadowed by the Hippodrome getting all the major touring shows, so it's great to see it getting a lot of them now, like Shrek and Jersey Boys to name but a few.

Possibly! It's also more expensive at the Alex than it was at the Hipp too, so it'll probably balance out. Yes there's some good stuff going to the Alex, which should continue with some big names in the next couple of years!

Looks like this will be following a similar length of the last tour, as there are still further dates to be announced, after the ones above

Casting to be announced soon (and hopefully some additional venues, but that might not be until autumn). I think we will be getting quier a few new/fresh/relatively unknown faces and maybe a few from the previous tour rejoining. Any predictions?
