Is a stage career a sensible choice for her though? What roles are realistically out there for her?
- soloist in seasons of love in Rent
- Motormouth in Hairspray
- the Colour Purple (which has just closed)
... can't think of many others.

Amber is definitely doing this for Broadway and more - not just musical theatre work I would think, but TV and film work. Whether we like it or not, Broadway does seem to be more lucrative than the West End, just look at the number of British musical theatre talents who've gone across the water in the last few years to great acclaim (for example Cynthia Erivo got a film role off the back of her Broadway stint - it's about making sure your name is known and current so you attract job opportunities). You can't blame them for wanting to make the most of those opportunities even though it takes them away from their loved ones, and equally you can't blame Amber for taking the opportunity to raise her musical theatre profile and gain experience by doing the role here first to get the momentum to transfer it to Broadway, so that by the time it gets there it's second nature to her and she'll undoubtedly get huge critical acclaim upon which she can take her career forward.
Plenty of people in all walks of life work far away from their loved ones for many reasons (I moved halfway across the world from mine for work at one point), as far as I'm concerned what Amber's doing is nothing new and entirely unsurprising.

dizzieblonde, I'm sure a new booking period will commence sooner than later. I'm sure it will too - it will just remain to be seen if any announcements are made about the cast going forward. I guess it's especially worth keeping an eye on the development of the B'way show. The recent discussions talked about 'next season' for an opening, so it'll be interesting to see where all of that goes. Nothing's certain, even with announcements!

You know, for me, it wasn't AIATY that was Amber's stand out momeny, it was I Am Changing. I thought that was more impressive personally and that's the one I'd be looking forward to If I go back. Totally agree. Loved it.

Ticket prices confuse me (I am easily confused!)
I have just booked to see Dreamgirls for this coming Wed matinee. Centre Row E in the stalls through Today Tix for £39.50 (£42.50 inc booking fee). A bargain I felt as all the stalls seats I have been looking at on the ATG website are £72.50 rising to £99.50/£125/£145 for Premium Seats. Looking at the plan centre Row E are Premium seats and the seats next to me are £99.50 for the matinee and £125 for the evening! Obviously I am pleased with my purchase but am surprised at the discount when the show is very very busy if not totally sold out in the coming weeks!
Slightly off topic I have also booked to see Death Takes A Holiday through Today Tix for £15 (available today only) - the seat is usually £32.50! So less than half price!
You do have to spend some time looking for these deals though!

Also maybe because Amber doesn't do Wednesday matinee's it's a bit cheaper plus it's not half term etc. I see from next week it moving to being Monday night her regular night off.

I booked to see this in October. Looking forward to it. I'm sure this has been discussed multiple times, so apologies in advance, but is 'Listen' in this production? It was written for the movie, right?

Yes, Listen is in this production, but very different to the film. It's now a duet between Effie and Deena.

I thought it worked brilliantly as a duet - both Amber and Liisi sing their hearts out and the result is stunning. They sang it on the radio last week, link is a few pages back, but I'd recommend waiting and being unspoiled when you see it in the theatre.

Listen was actually my favourite part of the whole show. I did feel some of the lyrics weren't the best but the performance made up for that. Here it is;

It was written for the movie, right? 'Listen' is a song in this production, but it's not the same 'Listen' that was written for the film and released by Beyonce. This has the same title and tune, but different lyrics and meaning. So can they still be advertise it as 'Listen' ?? I know we have covered this before....

^ Thanks so much.
I might hold off on listening to it so I have the element of surprise.

I completely get the purpose of the girls coming back onstage after And I Am Telling You, the wholw overshadowing Effie basis. Just curious, when anyone on here had been, has the audience actually paid attention to that moment or do the audience still go crazy through it? Because when I saw it, throughout that whole moment, which admittedly is short anyway, the audience were in full standing ovation, applause and cheers, to the point you couldn't even hear the music or signing. I mean, not that I am complaining, I was one of them and Marisha totally deserved it. Just curious to the different audiences that see the show.

Has Karen been on in 2017 yet? Once. Marisha has done all other performances where Amber has been off.

Well sorry to burst Joe's bubble who said it earlier, but Marisha just replied to my tweet, she isn't going anywhere just yet.

Thank you, DanielJohnson. I'd be interested in seeing her sometime. I'm only going to be in London in April, so I'm not sure who'll be the alternate by then. Would be great (for me!) if Amber took a holiday during that week, that way we'll surely get two different alternates. Nothing wrong with La Riley, but I've seen her twice already and don't mind another Effie.
